On November 21, in Song Doc town, Tran Van Thoi district, the 2024 Ca Mau province expanded boat racing festival took place.

In his opening speech, Mr. Nguyen Chi Cong - Deputy Director of the Department of Culture - Sports and Tourism of Ca Mau province said that there were 59 athletes from provinces and cities in the Mekong Delta region, along with racers in the province participating in the competition.

"The organizers hope to create a healthy playground for athletes who are passionate about rowing boats to have the opportunity to exchange and learn from each other," said Mr. Cong, adding that this is also a way to maintain and preserve the traditional lifestyle and culture of the people in the Mekong Delta in general, and Ca Mau province in particular.

At the competition venue, thousands of people came to watch the athletes compete from early morning. Mr. Tran Tam said that when he heard about the competition, his family in Ca Mau City went to Song Doc to rent a hotel to stay since yesterday afternoon, in order to be able to watch the boats flying this morning.

The competition will end and awards will be given to the athletes with high achievements in the afternoon of the same day.
