Vinh Phuc opens exhibition of Dong Son culture and quintessence of antiques

(Fatherland) - On November 22, at the Provincial Museum, the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Vinh Phuc province opened the exhibition "Dong Son culture and the quintessence of Vinh Phuc antiques".


Displaying Dong Son culture and the quintessence of Vinh Phuc antiques is an activity. is part of a series of cultural, sports and tourism activities to celebrate the nation's major holidays. Displayed with more than 700 documents and artifacts from different periods, preserved at the Vinh Phuc Provincial Museum, the Vinh Phuc Provincial Antiquities Research and Collection Association, and private collectors inside and outside the province, scientifically and aesthetically displayed, the gallery introduces typical vestiges of pre-Dong Son cultures, Dong Son culture on Vinh Phuc land, the pinnacle of which is the art of bronze casting and the quintessence of antiques through the ages, reflecting the creativity, aesthetic sense and talented hands of the ancients to create unique works of art.

Speaking at the opening ceremony, Mr. Ngo Chi Tue - Director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Vinh Phuc province stated: Dong Son culture dates back about 2,500 to 2,000 years ago, and has a particularly important position and role in the historical process of the nation. This culture is the material basis for the formation of the first state in the Hung Kings' era, the Van Lang - Au Lac state, and the foundation for the formation of ancient Vietnamese cultural identity as well as the Dai Viet civilization later.

Vice Chairman of Vinh Phuc Provincial People's Committee Nguyen Khac Hieu and delegates visited the thematic exhibition "Dong Son culture and the quintessence of Vinh Phuc antiques".

Vinh Phuc has more than 24 relics and archaeological sites belonging to the Phung Nguyen, Dong Dau, Go Mun cultural periods - also known as the Pre-Dong Son period discovered, typically the relics of Nghia Lap, Lung Hoa (Vinh Tuong district), Go Hoi (Song Lo district), Dong Dau (Yen Lac district)...; there are 12 relics and archaeological sites belonging to the Dong Son cultural period, typically the relics of Nguyet Duc (Yen Lac district), Go Com, Xuan Loi (Lap Thach district) Dao Tru, Minh Quang (Tam Dao district)... with rare relics such as Dao Tru bronze drum, Minh Quang bronze drum, Nguyet Duc basin drum...

The relics, along with the number of artifacts discovered and studied, are vivid evidence of the origin of indigenous culture from Phung Nguyen - Dong Dau, - Go Mun to Dong Son culture, and at the same time affirm that in the process of conquering and exploiting from the northern mountainous region to the Northern Delta, the ancient Vietnamese people stopped and settled permanently in Vinh Phuc land from 4,000 - 2,000 years ago.

This is the basic step to create the foundation, the premise for the cultural heritage space of Vinh Phuc to crystallize, enrich and shine in the heart of the national cultural heritage, with the diversity and richness of nearly 1,500 historical - cultural relics and scenic spots, including 4 special national relics and relic clusters; 62 national relics, 465 provincial relics; 1 national treasure, thousands of antiquities, relics, and artifacts inventoried, scientifically passported and being preserved and promoted in the Provincial Museum, relics, traditional houses, and collectors in the province. Along with that is the richness, diversity, and variety of 571 intangible cultural heritages, including 3 heritages recognized by UNESCO as representative intangible cultural heritages of humanity, 6 heritages listed in the national intangible cultural heritage list.

This is one of the cultural activities, vividly demonstrating the socialization of cultural work in general and the field of cultural heritage in particular, an opportunity for private collectors inside and outside Vinh Phuc province to exchange and share experiences, bring their collections to the public, contributing to the protection and promotion of the value of national cultural heritage in sustainable development.
