Vinh O receives the title of commune meeting new rural standards

Today, June 22, Vinh O commune, Vinh Linh district, Quang Tri province held a ceremony to receive the title of commune meeting new rural standards (NTM) in 2024.

Vinh O is a mountainous commune of Vinh Linh district and has been implementing the new rural development program from a low starting point. After 13 years of implementing the new rural development program, Vinh O commune has achieved remarkable initial successes.

Specifically, in 2022 - 2023, with a capital of 250 million VND supported from Vinh Linh district budget, Vinh O commune People's Committee has implemented the general planning for Vinh O commune construction until 2035 and was approved by Vinh Linh district People's Committee.

With a focus on planning the commune center, residential areas and production areas in line with the development orientation of Vinh O commune.

Over the years, Vinh O commune has been supported and mobilized resources with a total amount of over 112 billion VND and people have donated more than 8,500 ^m2 of land to build roads, irrigation works, and schools. Up to now, 100% of households' houses in the commune have been supported by all levels and sectors to be solid and semi-solid.

The power grid system ensures to serve the needs of the people with the rate of households using electricity regularly reaching 100%. Vinh O commune has focused on investing resources to solidify schools; facilities, teaching equipment are synchronous and modern to meet the teaching and learning needs of teachers and students. Community learning centers have effectively promoted the role of "midwives" helping people apply science and technology to production, contributing to effective poverty reduction...

The central market of Vinh O commune has played a good role in economic development, consuming agricultural products for people, contributing to the socio-economic development of the locality...

Cultural houses of 7 villages and hamlets in the commune have invested in building cultural items and institutions... to meet the needs of the people. The quality of healthcare is increasingly improved. By the end of 2023, the average income per capita of Vinh O commune reached 45.2 million VND/person/year; the poverty rate decreased to 11.74%...

Determining that the goal of building a new rural area has no stopping point, in the coming time, Vinh O commune will continue to mobilize all resources to build synchronous socio-economic infrastructure; focus on developing production to increase income and quality of life for the people; effectively implement social security policies and sustainable poverty reduction.

At the ceremony, Deputy Director of the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development Nguyen Phu Quoc presented the Decision of the Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee recognizing the commune as meeting the new rural standards to the Party Committee, government and people of Vinh O commune; awarded a welfare project worth 300 million VND to the locality. The District Party Committee, People's Council, People's Committee and Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Vinh Linh district presented Vinh O commune with a project worth 500 million VND. Quang Tri Rubber One Member Co., Ltd. presented Vinh O commune with 20 million VND.

On this occasion, the Minister of Transport awarded a certificate of merit to Vinh O commune for its outstanding achievements in the emulation movement to build and develop rural and mountainous transport in 2023; Vinh Linh District People's Committee awarded certificates of merit to 2 collectives and 5 individuals with good achievements in new rural construction in Vinh O commune.
