Honoring 25 outstanding works of literary and artistic theory and criticism

On the evening of September 19, at Ho Guom Theater, Hanoi , the Central Council for Theory and Criticism of Literature and Art held an Award Ceremony for works of theory and criticism of literature and art published in 2023.

This 10th Awarding Round has 118 works (including 34 books and 84 articles) submitted by agencies and units to the Awarding Council. Based on the results of the Preliminary Subcommittees and the Selection Council, the Steering Committee has reviewed and proposed the Chairman of the Council to decide to award Awards to 25 works, including 4 level B works, 12 level C works and 9 Encouragement level works.

Chairman of the Central Council for Theory and Criticism of Literature and Arts Nguyen The Ky said that the works considered for awards have inherited and creatively applied the Party's guidelines and viewpoints and the State's legal policies, contributing to building a Vietnamese culture and arts imbued with national identity.

This year, a number of literary critics from some localities in Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City, Thanh Hoa, Binh Duong , Binh Thuan, Ninh Thuan also had works entered into the award. And this year, there is another very encouraging point: public opinion. These works were published from 2023, screened by public opinion, and evaluated.

Theoretical and literary and artistic criticism works published in the previous year research urgent issues, have high scientific , artistic and humanistic values, have new points, have appropriate and practical approaches to promote creative activities, promote and receive the value of literary and artistic works, and are positively evaluated by experts and public opinion.

The Organizing Committee awarded prizes to 25 works, including: B Prize: 4 works; C Prize: 12 works and Encouragement Prize: 9 works. 4 level B works include: "Sketch of Vietnamese cinema in the period of renovation and integration" by Dr. Ngo Phuong Lan, "Neo chu" by theorist and critic Nguyen Hoai Nam, "The art of decorating village communal houses" in Binh Duong by Dr. Nguyen Thi Ngoc Diep and "Nguyen Binh - The national soul shines on die-cut paper" by poet Nguyen Si Dai.
