Vietnam won the 4-man event of the 2023 World Sepak Takraw Championship

The Vietnamese women's sepak takraw team defeated their Indonesian opponents in the final match of the 4-a-side event of the Sepak Takraw World Cup Championship 2023, held in Thailand.

The members of the women's sepak takraw team include: Ngo Thi Ngoc Quynh, Nguyen Thi Yen, Tran Thi Ngoc Nhung, Tran Thi Ngoc Yen, Nguyen Thi Ngoc Huyen and Nguyen Thi My. The team won 2-0 with the scores of the sets being 21-15 and 21-12.

In this match, the Vietnamese Sepak Takraw team did a good job of neutralizing the Indonesian team's attacks, especially their defensive situations at the net. At the same time, the Vietnamese team's attacking ability was maximized, causing the Indonesian team to always be in a position to chase the score.

Previously in the group stage, the Vietnamese Sepak Takraw team had defeated three teams: Myanmar, South Korea and Japan. In the semi-finals, the Vietnamese team continued to defeat the Lao team to reach the final match. With this achievement, the Vietnamese team successfully defended the championship title. Last year, the Vietnamese team defeated host Thailand in the final match.

In addition to the gold medal in the 4-a-side event, the Vietnamese women's sepak takraw team won a silver medal in the 3-a-side event after losing to Thailand. In the women's regu event, the Vietnamese team won a bronze medal. The men's team won a bronze medal in the 4-a-side event. In the Hoop event (jumping the shuttlecock into the net overhead) for men and women, the Vietnamese team won 1 silver medal and 1 bronze medal respectively.

The Sepak Takraw World Cup 2023 will be held in Thailand from July 9 to 16. 36 teams will participate in the tournament. The Vietnamese team will participate in all 4 men's and 4 women's events, with 18 male athletes and 15 female athletes.
