Vietnam was deducted 4.48 points for losing 0-2 to China and 2.41 points for losing 0-6 to South Korea. The 0-2 loss to Uzbekistan did not count as it was not an official friendly.

Vietnam's rise despite all losses was largely due to the result of Armenia - the team was deducted 20.22 points and dropped four places to 95th. Armenia lost 0-2 to lower-ranked Latvia (136) in the Euro 2024 qualifiers, so they were deducted 16.32 points, then another 3.9 points were deducted when they lost 1-3 in a friendly match against North Macedonia - the team ranked 66th.

According to regulations, friendly matches in the FIFA schedule have a weight of 10, while matches in the Euro and World Cup qualifiers have a weight of 25.

FIFA's 94th position means Vietnam is in the top 15 in Asia, having spent 1,793 days in the top 100 since November 29, 2018 and 2,136 days at the top of Southeast Asia since December 21, 2017. Following Vietnam are Thailand (112th), Malaysia (137th), Philippines (138th), Indonesia (145th), Singapore (155th), Myanmar (158th), Cambodia (178th), Laos (188th), Brunei (191st) and Timor Leste (197th).

In Asia, Japan continues to lead the way, moving up one place to 18th, after gaining 7.79 points from their 4-1 win over Canada and 2-0 win over Tunisia. The next teams in the top 10 in Asia are Iran (21), South Korea (24), Australia (27), Saudi Arabia (57), Qatar (61), Iraq (68), UAE (69), Oman (72), Uzbekistan (73).

The teams in the FIFA top 10 remain unchanged, but the order fluctuates. Portugal and Spain both rose two places to sixth and eighth respectively. Croatia dropped four places to 10th after losing 35.94 points to Türkiye 0-1 and Wales 1-2 in Euro 2024 qualifying. The top five are Argentina, France, Brazil, England, Belgium.
