Vietnam is about to export fire-resistant fabrics to the US, India, the Middle East...
"In July 2024, the first orders of fire-resistant fabrics produced by Vinatex and the UK's Coats Group will be exported to a number of markets such as the US, Indonesia, India, and the Middle East," information released by Vinatex said.
Specifically, for the Indonesian market, there is an order for 5,000 meters of fire-resistant fabric, followed by an order of 50,000 meters of fabric for the Middle East market, 5,000 meters of fabric for the Indian market and continued to be offered to other markets.
Cooperating with Coats Group in the production of fire-resistant fabrics and clothing is a test step of Vinatex at the beginning of this year to research and find a niche market, a way out of the increasingly competitive conventional textile manufacturing sector.
Accordingly, this is not a normal consumer product but a special technical product. The production technology is copyrighted technology, the product is not traded on the normal commercial system but based on the legal requirements of the markets. This product will enter the niche market, not fashion but technical goods, ensuring safety for people.
Through this strategic cooperation, Vinatex and Coats will cooperate in the production of fire-resistant fabrics and clothing, aiming to bring to market fire-resistant fabric products worth 5 million USD in the first year.
Vinatex will manufacture and sell flame retardant fabrics and clothing under exclusive orders for Coats and its subsidiaries worldwide. Coats Group will be responsible for technology copyright, product technical standard certification, product design & development, technology transfer, sales, promotion, marketing, distribution and supply of flame retardant (FR) fabrics and FR clothing samples.
Fire-resistant fabric products are researched and manufactured according to a closed technological process transferred by Coats Group at Vinatex, from fiber - yarn - weaving - dyeing - finishing - sewing to packaging, meeting the standards of each industry.
In addition, Coats is committed to continuously developing FR fabrics, ensuring products are competitive and meet market needs.
Previously, Vinatex had joined hands with Kova Group to produce Vinatex – Kova fireproof fabric. The product is a combination of Vinatex’s complete dyeing and finishing technology and Kova’s Nano technology.
Fireproof Nano fabric is used to sew protective clothing for workers in the following industries: Oil and gas, gasoline, electricity, mining, aviation, chemicals... At the same time, it is used for products in daily life such as: curtains, sofa covers, ironing boards, cooking aprons, fabric wardrobes, 2-wheel and 4-wheel vehicle covers, kiosk covers...
Mr. Pham Xuan Trinh, CEO of Vinatex said: "Every year, the world consumes about 16 billion USD of fire-resistant fabric products, with a growth rate of 9%/year for personal protective products for fire prevention and fighting. The largest is North America, protective clothing produced from fire-resistant fabric is 4.5 billion USD, followed by Europe, China, Japan, Australia, and South America.
Vietnam alone has to spend hundreds of millions of USD in foreign currency to import this special fabric.
