Vietnam and Japan have all the conditions to bring relations to a new level.

On the afternoon of October 10, at the Presidential Palace, President Vo Van Thuong received Japanese Foreign Minister Kamikawa Yoko who is visiting Vietnam.

At the reception, President Vo Van Thuong highly appreciated the positive contributions of Foreign Minister Kamikawa Yoko to the good cooperative relationship between Vietnam and Japan over the years in various positions.

Expressing his delight at the rapid, substantive and comprehensive development of Vietnam-Japan relations over the past 50 years, President Vo Van Thuong affirmed that Japan is Vietnam's leading economic cooperation partner in the fields of ODA, investment, trade, labor, tourism, etc.

The President assessed that local cooperation and people-to-people exchange between the two countries are increasingly developing strongly and substantially with nearly 100 local cooperation pairs between the two countries, and the Vietnamese community in Japan reaching nearly 500,000 people.

The President affirmed that the two countries have many common points and room to continue to develop the Vietnam-Japan friendly cooperation relationship more strongly in all fields.

President Vo Van Thuong suggested that the two sides continue to promote the exchange of delegations at all levels to contribute to consolidating and enhancing political trust; focus on promoting cooperation in economics, trade, investment, labor, ODA, human resource training, including training of leaders and managers at all levels; promote local exchanges, culture, tourism, people-to-people exchanges and exchanges between the two countries' young generations.

The President also asked Minister Kamikawa Yoko to pay attention to and promote the Japanese Government's creation of favorable conditions for the Vietnamese community to live, study and work in Japan.

Japanese Foreign Minister Kamikawa Yoko expressed his impression of Vietnam's remarkable development and the Vietnam-Japan relationship; affirming that the friendship between the two peoples from 1,000 years ago and high political trust are important foundations for the good development of the current bilateral relationship.

Ms. Kamikawa Yoko thanked President Vo Van Thuong, the leaders and people of Vietnam for the warm welcome given to the Crown Prince and Crown Princess of Japan during their recent official visit to Vietnam.

Emphasizing that the two countries have fully converged the conditions to bring the relationship to a new level. Minister Kamikawa Yoko expressed his hope that the two countries will continue to deepen cooperation in existing fields, while expanding to new fields such as digital transformation, green transformation, etc.

Regarding international and regional issues, the President affirmed that Vietnam is ready to closely cooperate with Japan to contribute to the success of the ASEAN-Japan Summit in late 2023.

Minister Kamikawa Yoko affirmed that Vietnam plays an important role in implementing Japan's foreign policy in the region. Japan will continue to closely coordinate with Vietnam at multilateral forums and on international and regional issues of mutual concern.
