At the meeting, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh and the Lao Minister of Health were pleased to see that the relationship between the two countries continues to develop well in all areas. In the health sector, cooperation activities in medical examination and treatment, training of health human resources, disease control and support to strengthen health system management stand out; during the COVID-19 pandemic, activities to support vaccines, medical supplies and equipment, share experiences and send experts have contributed to helping the two countries gradually control and overcome the pandemic.

In the coming time, the Prime Minister suggested that the two Ministries of Health coordinate to develop plans to concretize and effectively implement high-level agreements between the two countries; continue to exchange experiences, especially in promoting digital transformation, remote medical examination and treatment, etc.; support and facilitate medical examination and treatment for Lao people at Vietnamese hospitals; strengthen human resource training in the health sector in the direction of diversifying training subjects, expanding training programs suitable to the current needs of Laos, especially for the Vietnam - Laos friendship hospital projects in Houaphanh, Xiangkhouang, etc.; study the amendment of the Agreement on border medical quarantine in accordance with the current situation in the direction of more open and convenient procedures.

Recently, the People's Committee of Nghe An province and the Xiangkhouang provincial government held a handover ceremony to put into use the 200-bed Xiangkhouang Provincial Friendship Hospital; the Prime Minister requested the two Ministries of Health to coordinate, guide, and provide professional support to ensure high and sustainable efficiency.

The Prime Minister also suggested that the two sides continue to coordinate and support each other at regional and international forums in the health sector.

Lao Minister of Health Bounfeng Phoummalaysith informed about the results of his meeting with the Vietnamese Minister of Health during his visit, thanking Vietnam for its active cooperation and support for the Lao health sector in recent times, especially in training human resources and creating conditions for Lao people to receive medical examination and treatment in Vietnam. The Minister also thanked Vietnam for its support and assistance to Laos in the fight against the COVID-19 pandemic.

The Minister informed about Laos' efforts and solutions in innovating medical activities, wishing to continue to strengthen cooperation with Vietnam and welcome Vietnamese investors in this field, especially in human resource training, traditional medicine, completing the project to build the Vietnam - Laos Friendship Hospital in Houaphanh province...
