Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh announced that Vietnam will contribute 500,000 USD for emergency humanitarian relief for Palestinian people in the Gaza Strip.
Meeting with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan on the afternoon of November 29, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh said that Vietnam will contribute 500,000 USD through the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA).
Palestinians in the Gaza Strip have been living in poverty since conflict broke out between the militant group Hamas and Israel in early October.
Discussing bilateral relations during the meeting, the Prime Minister asked Türkiye to facilitate Vietnam's export products such as footwear, agricultural products, and seafood to penetrate Türkiye's supermarket chains and distribution systems. The Vietnamese government leaders welcomed Turkish businesses to invest in hydrogen, infrastructure, logistics, etc. in Vietnam.
President Recep Tayyip Erdogan affirmed that Türkiye attaches importance to developing multifaceted cooperation with Vietnam, a country with a particularly important position in Southeast Asia. He thanked Vietnam for its support in overcoming the consequences of the earthquake in February and highly appreciated the enthusiasm and high expertise of the rescue team sent by the Vietnamese Ministry of National Defense and Public Security.
Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh and President Recep Tayyip Erdogan agreed that the potential for cooperation is still very large and needs to be specifically exploited. The President affirmed that Türkiye is interested in promoting trade and investment cooperation with Vietnam, aiming for a bilateral trade turnover of 5 billion USD in the coming period.
The Turkish President hopes that the two countries will expand cooperation in the fields of tourism, health, energy, etc. The two leaders agreed to promote cooperation in other fields such as developing the Halal industry (products that comply with Islamic regulations), tourism, agriculture, education and training, and enhancing people-to-people exchanges.
Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh asked Türkiye to continue creating more favorable conditions for the Vietnamese community living and working in Türkiye.

Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh is on an official visit to Turkey from November 29-30. Vietnam and Turkey established diplomatic relations on June 7, 1978, and the two countries have maintained friendly relations and multifaceted cooperation.
Turkey is one of Vietnam's leading trading partners in the Middle East and a gateway for Vietnam to export to the Middle East and Southern European markets. Bilateral trade turnover in 2022 reached more than 2 billion USD, of which Vietnam exported 1.6 billion USD.
As of October, Türkiye had 36 valid investment projects with a total registered capital of 974.3 million USD, ranking 26th out of 143 countries and territories with investment projects in Vietnam.
There are about 200 Vietnamese people living in Türkiye. During the earthquake disaster that occurred in southeastern Türkiye in February, Vietnam provided $100,000 in aid and sent two rescue teams to help with the aftermath.
