On April 4, in Guangxi (China), Foreign Minister Bui Thanh Son held talks with Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi.

This is the first meeting between the two Foreign Ministers after the two countries upgraded their comprehensive strategic cooperative partnership and agreed to build a Community of Shared Future of strategic significance.

The two sides had a comprehensive and substantive exchange on the bilateral relationship and international and regional issues of mutual concern. The two ministers reached many important common perceptions on measures to implement the high-level agreements and common perceptions between Vietnam and China.

The two Foreign Ministers affirmed the top importance of Vietnam-China relations in each country's foreign policy.

The two sides agreed to promote and improve the effectiveness of economic and trade cooperation, especially giving high priority to promoting strategic connectivity in transportation, facilitating economic and social exchanges between the two countries, as well as contributing to promoting cooperation between China and the Southeast Asian region.

The two Ministers said that it is necessary to increase people-to-people exchanges and actively promote the long tradition of friendship between Vietnam and China as well as the achievements of innovation and reform and opening up of each country.

The two countries need to promote cooperation and exchanges between localities of the two countries; continue to strengthen coordination and mutual support within the multilateral framework; and continue to closely coordinate in the management and protection of land borders.

Vietnam and China are actively opening new, upgrading, and recognizing agreed border gates, as well as promoting the construction of smart border gates.

Regarding maritime issues, the two sides emphasized the importance of seriously implementing agreements and common perceptions of senior leaders of the two Parties and two countries on controlling and resolving disagreements.

Minister Bui Thanh Son suggested that China continue to facilitate and increase the import of agricultural products from Vietnam, actively remove obstacles in a number of industrial cooperation projects, and speed up railway connections in the northern provinces of Vietnam.

Foreign Minister Wang Yi suggested that the two sides strengthen the strategic connection between the “Belt and Road” initiative and the “Two Corridors, One Belt” framework, promoting economic, trade and investment cooperation.

China will actively consider expanding the import of Vietnamese goods and agricultural and aquatic products; support road traffic connections and jointly build smart border gates between the two countries to facilitate customs clearance of goods...

On April 3, in Chongzuo (Guangxi), Foreign Minister Bui Thanh Son received Secretary of the Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region Liu Ning.

The Foreign Minister suggested that Guangxi facilitate customs clearance at border gates, especially for Vietnamese agricultural products exported to China, in order to contribute to bringing practical benefits to Vietnamese farmers and Chinese consumers.

He also said that the two sides need to speed up the construction of border gate infrastructure, improve cargo transportation capacity and customs clearance efficiency at land border gates, as well as promote the construction of railway and road infrastructure connections.

The Minister also emphasized the need to continue exploiting revolutionary sites and President Ho Chi Minh relics in Guangxi to enhance mutual understanding and friendship between the people of the two countries, especially the young generation.

Secretary Liu Ning affirmed that Guangxi attaches special importance to friendly exchanges and mutually beneficial cooperation with Vietnamese ministries, sectors and localities.

He also agreed that the two sides need to strengthen transport infrastructure connectivity, facilitate customs clearance, promote the construction of smart border gates, and boost tourism cooperation and people-to-people exchange.
