On February 3, Dr. Ho Manh Tuong, general secretary of the Ho Chi Minh City Association of Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility, said that the research project of My Duc Hospital has just been published in the world's leading IVF journal on reproductive medicine, Fertility & Sterility , February 2025 issue.

Fertility & Sterility is a medical journal . America 's leading , 75-year-old.

Research work of My Duc Hospital announced the effectiveness of an in vitro fertilization regimen that does not inject ovarian stimulating hormones for patients with polycystic ovary syndrome.

Doctor Manh Tuong said according to the protocol in vitro fertilization Typically , to obtain eggs for in vitro fertilization , doctors must inject hormones into patients continuously for about 2 weeks , then extract the eggs .

The IVM (invitro maturation) protocol was created to replace the need for long-term ovarian stimulation injections while still obtaining eggs. However, the old IVM protocol still required injections for 2-3 days and was not very effective.

IVM (invitro maturation) is a technique of extracting eggs from small follicles, then the eggs are matured outside the body in a specialized culture environment.

In recent years, My Duc Hospital has researched an improved IVM protocol, called CAPA-IVM. According to this latest protocol, patients do not need to inject drugs every day to still get better eggs and embryos, with a better pregnancy rate. All patients had blastocyst transfer on day 5, with very high pregnancy and live birth rates.

This newly published scientific work is scientific data proving the effectiveness of the new CAPA-IVM regimen, which does not involve hormone injections at all.

" This is the first time this protocol has been published in the world and appeared in an American scientific journal, the most prestigious in the IVF industry . This result will open up opportunities to improve the in vitro fertilization treatment regimen in the world: simpler, safer, more friendly, economical and effective ," Dr. Manh Tuong emphasized.

The results of this study were actually better than the published results.

" For a scientific work to be published in a prestigious scientific journal, from the time it is started until it is accepted for publication, it usually takes 3-4 years. This published study followed the results of 60 cases, but in reality this protocol has been applied to thousands of other cases ," Dr. Manh Tuong informed.

Cases were followed up for 3 years, from the start of treatment until the birth of the baby .

My Duc Hospital submitted this research work in mid-2024. It took more than 6 months for the journal's world experts to read, question , the authors to respond, and provide full information. Only then was it approved for publication in the journal.

Currently, the results of this regimen are actually better than the results published in the journal (which were results from 2-3 years ago), Dr. Manh Tuong added.
