Researchers believe that the land god, Ong Dia in our country is an image that has developed and been enriched, changed throughout the history - politics as well as the beliefs of the Vietnamese people in cultural exchange with China. The Tang Dynasty of China (ie the time of Northern domination in our country) officially marked the change in beliefs from worshiping stone gods to worshiping land gods with the appearance of the tutelary god. The image of this god (thanh hoang) and the land god in our country are basically the same because basically, the meaning of beliefs and the nature of the two are the same: protecting the religious life of the people. Huynh Ngoc Trang said: "The land god in our country has many names, many surnames. The tutelary god that we are worshiping is actually also Ong Dia".
