Recently, Coach Popov spoke up about why Thanh Hoa had to play three consecutive matches in just 10 days. In particular, he wondered why the Binh Dinh - Thanh Hoa match was played on October 4 and not postponed like the matches between CAHN and Nam Dinh.
The Bulgarian coach was surprised that Thanh Hoa FC, which he leads, will have to play at a high frequency. Specifically, Thanh Hoa will have to play three consecutive matches in 10 days, respectively against Terengganu in Malaysia on September 25, Hai Phong on September 30 and Binh Dinh on October 4. Meanwhile, the two matches Nam Dinh - SLNA and CAHN - Hanoi FC were postponed from October 4 to October 20.
Through research, it is known that the change in the match schedule has been announced to all teams, including Thanh Hoa Club, who have been fully informed about the schedule and changes. On August 14, VPF issued the V-League 2024-2025 match schedule, with specific times from round 1 to 9. Accordingly, round 4 is scheduled to be held on October 19 and 20, including the matches Thanh Hoa - Binh Dinh, Nam Dinh - SLNA and CAHN - Hanoi FC so that Thanh Hoa, Nam Dinh and CAHN teams can prepare well for the Southeast Asian and Asian arenas.
On September 12, the draw and schedule for the First Division and National Cup will take place. Accordingly, the National Cup qualifying round will be held on October 19 and 20, while the fourth round of the V-League will be moved to October 3 and 4. Notably, Binh Dinh will compete in the National Cup qualifying round on October 20. They are also Thanh Hoa's opponent in the fourth round of the V-League. If Thanh Hoa plays on the same day as Nam Dinh and CAHN (October 19), it will not ensure the minimum time requirement between the two matches for Binh Dinh. Therefore, the Thanh Hoa - Binh Dinh match cannot be postponed as planned and will still be played on October 4.
Meanwhile, Nam Dinh is busy competing in AFC Champions League Two on October 2 and cannot guarantee at least 4 days off before round 4 of V-League takes place on October 3 and 4. Therefore, Nam Dinh must postpone round 4 (hosting SLNA at home).
The match between Hanoi and CAHN had to be postponed due to force majeure. From October 1 to October 10, Hang Day Stadium hosted the international women's football tournament to celebrate the 70th anniversary of the liberation of the capital. These two teams did not have to compete in the National Cup qualifiers like the match between Nam Dinh and SLNA and were also scheduled to play a make-up match on October 19.
It is known that the announcements of schedule adjustments and match times were sent to participating clubs very early. Therefore, Coach Popov's reaction also surprised many people.
