Why has the subsidence of the road at the head of the Long Xuyen bypass not been completed?

Mr. Nguyen The Vuong, Deputy Director of the consulting and supervising unit for the Long Xuyen city bypass, said that the project passes through An Giang province and Can Tho city for 15.3km and the upgraded section of National Highway 80 is about 2km long.

Compensation for road subsidence at the head of the Long Xuyen city bypass (An Giang) has reached 80%.

Of which, the project has 800m in Can Tho city and 16.5km in An Giang province. The project is divided into three construction packages including 4A, 4B and 4C.

In recent days, the contractors of packages 4B and 4C have been busy with the compensation for the subsidence of the bridgehead. Up to now, it has basically been completed according to the set plan. As for package 4A, the contractor has not yet implemented it.

"The subsidence of the bridgehead roads on the Long Xuyen city bypass has reached 80% at this point. The remaining part that the contractor has not yet constructed is at the beginning of the route, that is, from Vam Cong bridge to National Highway 91," said Mr. Vuong.

Mr. Vuong added that package 4A has five locations that need compensation for subsidence. Specifically, the Kenh Xang bridge and Cai Dung bridge, compensation needs to be done at pier A1. The remaining bridges include: Ranh bridge, Muong Thom Be and Muong Thom, compensation is needed at pier A2.

"At locations where the subsidence of the bridgehead has been completed, vehicles can move smoothly and safely. As for the remaining locations, the contractor will carry out the work before handing over the project to Road Management Area IV for management in October," Mr. Vuong informed, adding that when the capital is arranged, the contractor will start immediately.

The Long Xuyen bypass has 18 bridges, with 36 bridge-head roads. After the inauguration and opening to traffic on June 16, the project has 25/36 bridge-head road locations that need to be compensated for.

Immediately afterwards, the investor, My Thuan Project Management Board, and related units carried out compensation to ensure safety and convenience for vehicles participating in traffic on this route.

The investment project to build the route connecting National Highway 91 and the Long Xuyen city bypass passing through An Giang and Can Tho is 15.3km long and the upgraded and renovated section of National Highway 80 is about 2km long. Of which, 800m is in Can Tho city and 16.5km is in An Giang.
The project has a scale of building a level 3 plain road, two lanes for motor vehicles, a road surface width of 11m and a design speed of 80km/h. There are 18 bridges on the route, along with a drainage and lighting system. The starting point of the project connects to the approach road to Vam Cong bridge, the end point connects to National Highway 91 in Binh Duc ward and Long Xuyen city.
The project has a total investment of VND 2,107 billion, using loans from the Asian Development Bank, inaugurated and put into use on June 16, 2024.
