Báo Dân tríBáo Dân trí06/12/2024

(Dan Tri) - According to Mr. Pham Trung Luong, former Deputy Director of the Institute of Tourism Research, the Vietnam Military History Museum attracting tens of thousands of visitors is a very encouraging sign because Vietnamese people are especially interested in history.
In recent days, the Vietnam Military History Museum has become one of the most popular destinations in Hanoi . On November 10 alone, this destination welcomed a record number of visitors, up to 40,000 people. In the previous days, the museum also welcomed 20,000 to 30,000 visitors.

Located at a new address on Thang Long Avenue in Tay Mo and Dai Mo wards, Nam Tu Liem district, the museum opened for free from November 1 and is expected to be free until the end of December. The project consists of 4 floors above ground and 1 basement but is not 100% complete. Currently, the management board has only opened the first floor for visitors from 8am to 11am in the morning and from 1pm to 4:30pm on weekdays. This is where 150,000 artifacts are displayed and preserved, including 4 national treasures and many military weapons. Explaining the attraction of this destination to domestic visitors, in an interview with Dan Tri reporter, Associate Professor Dr. Pham Trung Luong, former Deputy Director of the Institute of Tourism Research (General Department of Tourism), said that there are reasons why the museum is particularly attractive. "This is a new destination to replace the museum located on Dien Bien Phu Street, which has a smaller area. When the Military History Museum was newly built on a large scale, covering quite fully the Vietnam War as well as the activities of different military branches, it is understandable that it attracts visitors to experience and learn about history," said Mr. Luong.

According to Mr. Luong, this is a very encouraging sign that shows that Vietnamese people are especially interested in history, whether the new or old generation. However, this tourism expert believes that although this is a good sign, there should still be scientific thinking to develop better products. In particular, conducting surveys with tourists about the destination is necessary. "The museum management board can conduct a survey on the level of interest and satisfaction of tourists to know what are the strengths and which aspects need to be adjusted accordingly. I believe that in the near future, this will be one of the must-see destinations for international visitors when coming to Vietnam," said Mr. Luong. Meanwhile, Mr. Nguyen Tien Dat - CEO of AZA Travel - said that the museum will certainly become an attractive destination for international visitors thanks to the preservation of valuable artifacts and historical values. "International visitors know Vietnam as a heroic country. Why a small nation still defeated both French colonialism and American imperialism is something that many foreign visitors are curious about, so they want to go to military museums to find out. Currently, the museum displays many large artifacts from airplanes to tanks with great historical value, making visitors excited when they see them face to face," Mr. Dat analyzed.

When it first opened, the number of visitors here increased dramatically, most of whom were domestic visitors such as veterans and the elderly who lived during the war. Other groups are very diverse, and may come because of the trend. According to Mr. Dat, after about 2-3 months, the trend will gradually decrease, but those who are truly interested in history will still come, including both domestic and international visitors. Meanwhile, Mr. Le Cong Nang - General Director of WonderTour - commented that this is an attractive destination, suitable for many types of visitors, especially domestic visitors. Currently, many travel agencies are building tours to Hanoi combined with visiting the museum, aiming to bring visitors diverse and meaningful experiences. "We believe that with the historical, cultural andeducational values that the museum brings, this place will increasingly attract a large number of domestic and foreign visitors," said Mr. Nang.
