113 million VND vegetable-shaped wallet and other controversial items because of their unreasonably high price

Creativity is endless in the fashion industry. In addition to practical designs, each fashion season also sees unique and bold ideas.

Celery Wallet

In the Fall - Winter 2024 collection, the Italian brand - Moschino - introduced a long and narrow wallet that looks like a bunch of celery.

According to Moschino’s website, the wallet is called Sedano. The body of the wallet uses 3D technology to look like a celery plant. The leaves and branches are made of nappa leather, in two different shades of green, which helps to create depth and authenticity for the accessory.

The leaves and branches are meticulously handcrafted, reinforced with a wire core that allows them to move naturally, just like fresh celery (Photo: Moschino).

The Sedano wallet with its unique design once again affirms the creative DNA, expressing the playful side of fashion from Moschino.

However, the price of the above design is not "easy", up to 4,470 USD (more than 113 million VND). Some fashionistas question whether vegetables and luxury accessories should be combined together or not?

Bread shaped wallets and handbags

In addition to the Sedano celery-shaped wallet, Moschino also launched two other products inspired by food. They are the Baguette wallet and the Rosetta handbag, both from the Fall - Winter 2024 collection.

The Baguette Wallet is designed using 3D technology to look like a baguette. According to the brand, the Baguette Wallet can be opened and closed along the entire length of the product, making it easy to access the items inside. The price of this wallet model is 1,205 USD (30.5 million VND) (Photo: Moschino).

The Rosetta bag features the image of the traditional Italian Rosetta baguette, created with meticulous 3D graphics down to the last detail. This special bag recreates the past with a fresh and modern spirit.

The Rosetta bag has a detachable metal strap that allows for multiple carrying options – shoulder, crossbody, or hand-held. The price of the bag is $840 (Photo: Moschino).

Duct tape bracelet

Recently, Balenciaga has sparked a lot of discussion because of its controversial designs that do not match the price.

Launched in the Fall-Winter 2024 collection, the bracelet looks like a roll of duct tape but costs up to $3,300. The only distinguishing feature is the Balenciaga brand name printed on the core (Photo: @myfacewheno_o).

In the comments section below the article introducing this bracelet model on High Snobiety 's TikTok page, netizens left many negative comments.

"I thought it was a joke until I saw the Balenciaga brand name written at the bottom of the article", "I wore a Balenciaga "bracelet" when I was 6 years old, helping my dad paint the walls at home", "I bought one but it was from a small, little-known brand called Scotch (the brand that makes duct tape)"…

Towel skirt

In the Spring - Summer 2024 collection, Balenciaga became a hot topic with its $925 towel dress design.

Not cashmere, not fur, this dress is made from cotton terry - a familiar material for making towels. The dress has two buttons sewn inside the waist to prevent it from falling off when worn (Photo: Balenciaga).

Handbag like garbage bag

In 2022, Balenciaga raised many eyebrows with its Trash Pouch bag inspired by garbage bags, but with an extremely unreasonable price - 1,790 USD (45.3 million VND).

This is a drawstring bag made from calfskin, decorated with a logo. The bag comes in different color versions such as black, white, yellow and blue.

"I couldn't pass up the opportunity to create the world's most expensive trash bag, because who doesn't love a fashion scandal?", current creative director at Balenciaga - Demna Gvasalia - told Women's Wear Daily at the time (Photo: Balenciaga, @myfacewheno_o).

"Dirty" sneakers

In 2022, Balenciaga launched a high-top sneaker similar to the Converse Chuck Taylor. However, it is unclear how long this design can be worn because it looks extremely old, covered in dirt with scratches and holes scattered on the shoe body.

Balenciaga's "dirty" sneakers are quite limited in quantity. Only 100 pairs were produced and they were sold out, despite the price tag of up to $1,850 (46.8 million VND) (Photo: Balenciaga).

Snack bags

Balenciaga is very successful in "teasing" consumers with designs that are nothing special, but the prices are quite expensive.

For its Spring/Summer 2023 collection, Balenciaga turned snack packs into zippered handbags, a collaboration between the Spanish brand and potato chip manufacturer Lay's.

This unique accessory is crafted from leather and comes in a variety of flavors including Original, Salt & Vinegar, Lime and Flamin' Hot.

A pack of Lay's potato chips costs less than $4 and is easily found in supermarkets and department stores. Meanwhile, a similar design from Balenciaga sells for up to $1,800 (Photo: @demnagram).
