On the afternoon of May 23, the Vietnam Football Federation (VFF) organized an award ceremony for the national women's team and the Vietnam U22 team after the 32nd SEA Games.

With the achievement of successfully defending the Gold Medal, the Vietnamese women's team was awarded a total of 3.6 billion VND by the VFF. Meanwhile, the U22 Vietnam team was awarded 2.4 billion VND for winning the Bronze Medal in men's football.

The Vietnamese women's team has now gathered again to prepare for the 2023 World Cup finals, so coach Mai Duc Chung and all members of the team are present.

Because U22 Vietnam had disbanded to let the players return to serve their clubs, only a few representative members attended, coach Philippe Troussier was absent.

At the 32nd SEA Games, the Vietnamese women's team finished the group stage as the top team in Group A after two wins (3-0 against Malaysia, 3-1 against Myanmar) and one loss (1-2 against the Philippines). Coach Mai Duc Chung's team had the same 6 points as Myanmar and the Philippines but ranked higher due to a better goal difference.

In the semi-finals, the Vietnamese women's team defeated host Cambodia 4-0. Meeting Myanmar again in the final, the team continued to win 2-0, thereby winning the SEA Games for the fourth consecutive time.

In addition to the 3.6 billion VND bonus from VFF, coach Mai Duc Chung's team also received a bonus of 1 billion VND each from Thaco Group and Phong Phu Company.

In the semi-finals, coach Troussier's team lost 2-3 to Indonesia despite having an extra player from the 60th minute. In the third-place match, U22 Vietnam defeated Myanmar 3-1 to win the bronze medal.

Coach Mai Duc Chung said at the award ceremony: "I am very honored to represent U22 Vietnam and the Vietnam women's team to thank football fans nationwide for encouraging the team over the past years.

We would like to thank the Party, the State, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, the General Department of Sports and Physical Training, the Vietnam Football Federation and the women's clubs for supporting us so much to achieve today's achievements. We are honored to receive this award.

We promise to unite, strive, and be determined to achieve many achievements to bring glory to our country's football and bring joy to fans."
