U23 Vietnam faces difficulties at ASIAD 19 due to the organizers' ridiculous regulations

According to the regulations of the 19th ASIAD organizing committee, participating teams must submit a preliminary list 4 months in advance, each team can register a maximum of 30 players.

Therefore, coach Hoang Anh Tuan does not have many options to expand as in the 2023 Southeast Asian U23 tournament.

This regulation has caused U23 Vietnam to lose many names that have been playing well recently. A typical case is Nguyen Minh Quang, the player who just won the 2023 Southeast Asian U23 Championship with U23 Vietnam.

Currently, the U23 team led by coach Troussier is participating in the 2024 U23 Asian qualifiers and will not finish competing until September 12.

Therefore, it was only after the above time that coach Hoang Anh Tuan had enough players to practice.

But the Khanh Hoa coach only has 4 days to train his troops before leaving for China on September 16.

In the country of a billion people, U23 Vietnam has 2 more days to prepare before the opening match on September 19.

The Vietnam U23 team participating in ASIAD 19 has started to gather again from September 7 at the Vietnam Youth Football Training Center.

But at this time there were only 12 players including: Do Sy Huy, Quan Van Chuan, Tran Nam Hai, Le Nguyen Hoang, Nguyen Manh Hung, Nguyen Phi Hoang, Nguyen Duc Viet, Nguyen Cong Phuong, Dinh Xuan Tien, Nguyen Quoc Viet, Vo Nguyen Hoang and Nham Manh Dung joining the team.

Among them, Do Sy Huy and Nham Manh Dung are two players over 23 years old registered according to the regulations of the organizing committee.

At this tournament, U23 Vietnam is in a rather difficult group with the presence of Saudi Arabia, Iran and Mongolia.

The teams will compete in a round-robin format to determine rankings. The top two teams in each group and the four best third-placed teams will advance. Group matches will take place from September 19 to September 24.
