(CTO) - On the afternoon of May 13, U22 Vietnam lost 2-3 to U22 Indonesia in a dramatic match with many surprises in the semi-final 1 of men's football at the 32nd SEA Games in Cambodia.

Compared to the match against U22 Thailand, coach Philippe Troussier has returned many key players to the starting lineup. Goalkeeper Van Chuan, the three central defenders Ngoc Thang - Tuan Tai - Quang Thinh; left-back Minh Trong and Van Cuong on the right wing. The central midfielders are Thai Son - Duc Phu. On the attack line, striker Van Tung returns to play alongside Van Do and Thanh Nhan.

On the other side of the front line, U22 Indonesia also used the best quality personnel with notable players being Rizky Ridho, Marselino Ferdinan, Witan Sulaeman and Pratama Arhan.

The U22 Vietnam players took the initiative to keep the ball and occupy the midfield. While the match was still tense, U22 Vietnam suddenly conceded a goal in a fairly simple situation. In the 10th minute, from a throw-in straight into the penalty area, center back Koman jumped high and headed the ball past goalkeeper Van Chuan, opening the score for U22 Indonesia.

After conceding the goal, U22 Vietnam tried to push up the formation, putting strong pressure on the opponent's field. However, the coordination in the area near the opponent's goal was not sharp and did not bring results. Long passes over the line for Van Tung encountered many difficulties against the dense defense of U22 Indonesia. After more than 30 minutes of stalemate, Van Tung scored the equalizer. From the corner kick, the players coordinated and passed into the penalty area for Van Tung to jump high and head the ball back, scoring against U22 Indonesia.

U22 Vietnam raised their spirits and attacked more coherently, but could not score more goals in the first half.

In the second half, Mr. Troussier brought Cong Den in to replace Van Cuong, U22 Vietnam increased the pressure. However, just like the first half, U22 Vietnam unexpectedly conceded a goal. In the 54th minute, also from a throw-in straight into the penalty area, Van Chuan punched the ball right into Maselino's position so that this player could shoot and tear the U22 Vietnam net.

The turning point happened in the 60th minute, when Arhan fouled Duc Phu and received a second yellow card, forcing him to leave the field. Coach Troussier decided to send his best attacking players onto the field, Van Truong and Van Khang replacing Minh Trong and Duc Phu.

U22 Vietnam pressed the field, but U22 Indonesia defended in large numbers to preserve the score. In the 79th minute, under pressure from Vietnamese players, defender Amiruddin clumsily kicked an own goal, equalizing 2-2 for U22 Vietnam.

Despite having more players and playing aggressively, the players were impatient and hasty in their finishing moves, leading to inaccurate shots. In a counter-attack in the 90+6 minute, Taufany shot from a distance, scoring a precious goal for U22 Indonesia.

Losing 2-3, U22 Vietnam became the former SEA Games champion, watching U22 Indonesia enter the final.
