According to the Hanoi Department of Health , in the first 9 months of 2024, the rate of children under 5 years old with stunting malnutrition was 9.8% (down 0.3% compared to the same period in 2023).

The Hanoi Department of Health has just reported to the Hanoi People's Committee on the implementation of the socio -economic development plan for October and tasks to be performed in November 2024.

In the report, the Department of Health affirmed that epidemics are still well controlled. Most epidemics have a lower number of cases compared to the same period in 2023.

Specifically, from the beginning of the year to September 14, there were 4,160 cases of dengue fever, down 80%; 2,186 cases of hand, foot and mouth disease, down 67 cases; 9 cases of streptococcus suis, down 6 cases; 804 cases of chickenpox, down 1,218 cases; 17 cases of tetanus, down 5 cases; 1 case of rubella, down 6 cases...

The system of monitoring and detecting infectious diseases and the expanded vaccination program to prevent infectious diseases are maintained.

The city has organized a measles vaccination campaign starting from October 14 with about 70,000 subjects being vaccinated, including children aged 1-5 years old and medical staff at risk at medical examination and treatment facilities treating measles patients who have not received enough doses as prescribed. Up to October 17, more than 23,000 injections have been performed.

Malnutrition prevention work has achieved the city's assigned target, the rate of stunted children under 5 years old is 9.8% (down 0.3% compared to the same period in 2023); underweight is 6.6%, down 0.2%; controlling the rate of wasting malnutrition in children under 5 years old is 0.4% and controlling the rate of overweight and obesity is 1.2% and both are the same as the same period.

The city currently has 14,864 people living with HIV, of which 13,465 people are maintained on ARV treatment, reaching 90.5%; 8,980/9,049 patients (99.2%) have viral load test results below the suppression threshold out of the total number of patients tested for viral load.

HIV/AIDS prevention activities are maintained such as distributing condoms and needles; treating opioid addiction with Methadone; HIV testing consultation and confirmation testing at medical facilities; pre-exposure prophylaxis (PrEP) at public and private medical facilities...

Activities to improve population quality are implemented such as the Project to Expand Screening, Diagnosis, and Treatment of Prenatal and Neonatal Diseases and Disabilities;

From the beginning of the year to the end of September, the whole city had nearly 69,500 children born, the number of children who were the third child or more was nearly 4,600, a decrease of more than 320 children compared to the same period, reaching a rate of 6.6%.

The number of elderly people receiving health check-ups was nearly 1.2 million, reaching approximately 83%. Nearly 80,400 pregnant women were screened prenatally, reaching a rate of 84.97%; nearly 60,000 newborns were screened newbornly, reaching nearly 86%. The total number of people using new contraceptive methods was nearly 435,000, reaching over 107% of the plan.

Regarding food safety, we have inspected and traced the origin of food at 20 school kitchens, of which 15 have passed, and rapid testing has passed 190/190 samples.

In the key task of November 2024, the health sector continues to implement measures to ensure the maintenance of the system of monitoring, detecting infectious diseases, and vaccinating to prevent epidemics.

Maintain HIV/AIDS prevention activities, implement the 90-90-98 target. Regarding population work, focus on solutions to implement and complete assigned targets by 2024. Inspect, monitor and implement professional activities to ensure food safety in the management field.

Conduct screening and weighing to assess the nutritional status of children under 5 years old; provide advice and improve nutritional status for people, and provide proper nutrition in the first 1000 days of life to prevent malnutrition in mothers and children.
