Vietnam team drops in ranking, US falls from world leader

After the 2023 World Cup, the Vietnamese women's team dropped two places while the US was also pushed to third place after an unsuccessful tournament.

The Vietnamese women's team lost all three matches at the 2023 World Cup. That caused coach Mai Duc Chung's team to be deducted 25.94 points in the FIFA rankings. Therefore, the "Golden Star Warriors" dropped two places from 32nd to 34th in the world.

Anyway, this issue is in the plan of the Vietnamese women's team before attending the World Cup. Being able to compete with the world's top teams is the most important thing. That helps coach Mai Duc Chung's team to become more mature.

The Vietnamese women's team still leads Southeast Asia and ranks 5th in Asia. Meanwhile, the Philippines has been awarded 27.92 points despite being eliminated in the group stage. The Southeast Asian representative made history with a victory over New Zealand. They have moved up two places to 44th in the world.

Thanks to that, the Philippines has surpassed Thailand to become the second ranked team in Southeast Asia at this time. Among the Asian teams, Japan has made a strong improvement when it jumped three places to 11th in the world. They have surpassed Australia to become the top team in Asia.

Meanwhile, the US women's team lost their world number 1 position. They had an unsuccessful tournament, winning only 1/4 of their matches and were eliminated early in the round of 16. The American team was deducted 38.82 points and dropped to 3rd place.

World Cup 2023 champions Spain were awarded 49.56 points, jumping from 6th to 2nd place. Sweden jumped 19.46 points after reaching the semi-finals. They have overtaken the United States as the top team in the FIFA rankings.
