(NLDO) - Invested in construction with a length of 32 km, however, due to ineffective operation, the Cau Giat - Nghia Dan railway line has been abandoned for more than 10 years.
The Cau Giat - Nghia Dan railway line (Nghe An) was built in 1966. The route is 32 km long, from Cau Giat town (Quynh Luu district), to Nghia Dan district, now in Thai Hoa town.
The purpose of the route is to serve the travel needs of people from the plains to the Western region of Nghe An. In addition, the railway also has an important task in transporting necessities and weapons from the plains to the Nghia Dan area, then following the forest road to the South, serving the war that is entering a fierce phase.

The railway has not had a train for 12 years.
During busy times, the Cau Giat - Nghia Dan railway line was always bustling with train cars full of people and goods. However, since the second half of the 90s, when National Highway 48 was invested in and built, people switched to other means of transport such as cars, motorbikes, etc. The Cau Giat - Nghia Dan railway line began to have few passengers. By 2006, the Railway Company had to stop passenger transport, and by 2012, the last freight train also fell into a similar situation.

Due to many years of disuse, this route has now seriously degraded. According to records, most of the rail sleepers have rotted, the screws are heavily rusted, and weeds have grown everywhere. Many of the cross-roads have been filled with dirt and rocks by the people to make it easier for vehicles to pass. The stations seem to be abandoned, damaged, and deserted.
Although abandoned, for a long time, relevant units had to spend billions of dong to protect and maintain this inactive railway line.
A station on the line was deserted.

The gatehouse is abandoned because the road has not been in use for many years.
Due to being "abandoned" for many years, causing environmental pollution, wasting assets and land, and making it difficult for people to travel, recently voters of Thai Hoa town have proposed moving Nghia Dan station out of the town center.
However, the Ministry of Transport later responded in writing, affirming that it would continue to maintain this railway line that has been "abandoned" for more than 12 years.
