Vietnam women's volleyball team makes rapid progress as it makes history

(Dan Tri) - Despite losing to Thailand, the Vietnamese women's volleyball team still reached the semi-finals of the 2023 Asian Championship. Thanks to that, coach Nguyen Tuan Kiet's team jumped up the world rankings.
In the match last night (September 4), the Vietnamese women's volleyball team lost 1-3 to Thailand in the match for the top spot in Group E. However, coach Nguyen Tuan Kiet's team still won the right to enter the semi-finals to meet China.

This is the first time in history that the Vietnamese women's volleyball team has reached the semi-finals of the Asian Championship. Thanks to that, we have risen strongly in the rankings of the International Volleyball Federation (FIVB). Before the tournament, the Vietnamese women's volleyball team was ranked 48th in the world. After victories over Korea, Uzbekistan, Taiwan and Australia, coach Nguyen Tuan Kiet's team was awarded 26.27 more points, increasing from 74.28 points to 97.78 points. Thanks to that, Thanh Thuy and her teammates have risen to 38th place.

After the loss to Thailand, we were deducted 2.33 points and dropped to 40th place. Meanwhile, Kazakhstan jumped to 39th place after a 3-0 victory over India. However, 40th place is quite high for the Vietnamese women's volleyball team. The Treuid newspaper (Thailand) admitted that the Vietnamese women's volleyball team has made remarkable progress. They affirmed that the victory of coach Nguyen Tuan Kiet and his team against Korea was "beyond expectations". The semi-final match of the Asian Women's Volleyball Championship between Vietnam and China will take place at 3:00 p.m. on September 5. The remaining semi-final match between Thailand and Japan will begin at 6:00 p.m. on the same day.
