Ehon Week was first held in 2023, in a series of events celebrating the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Vietnam and Japan, with the participation of more than 1,000 readers. Following that success, Ehon Week 2024 returned under the auspices of the Embassy of Japan in Vietnam, with the theme "Animals".

This year's event will display 100 original Ehon picture books in Japanese and Vietnamese versions, helping children freely explore interesting books. The works on display are selected by VBBY - the International Book Council for Children and Young People in Vietnam, ensuring diversity in content, age, and richness in illustrations. Ehon is not only for children who can read, but also suitable for children who cannot read yet, helping them perceive the world through images and stories told by adults. Parents coming to the exhibition will have the opportunity to experience reading with their children, while opening up a new perspective on the Ehon picture book genre.

Representative of Thai Ha Books Company, Ms. Bui Sao said: “When choosing the copyright of Ehon comics to translate into Vietnamese, many criteria are used to ensure that the selected books not only meet educational needs but are also suitable for the culture and interests of Vietnamese people. The stories must convey messages with educational and humanistic values, and must be suitable for the psychology and culture of Vietnamese people. Because Ehon comics are aimed at young children, the language used must be clear, easy to understand and pure, helping children learn without feeling pressured”./.
