(To Quoc) - On the evening of December 2, the People's Army Cinema (General Department of Politics) opened the Film Week to celebrate the 80th anniversary of the founding of the Vietnam People's Army, the 35th anniversary of the National Defense Day and the 80th anniversary of the Traditional Day of the General Department of Politics of the Vietnam People's Army.
The commemorative film week screened 8 films, including 4 documentaries produced by the Military Cinema: Firmly Stepping Under the Party Flag - directed by People's Artist Luu Quy; Stepping Under the Military Flag - Episode 1: Fighting for Independence - directed by Pham Thanh Hung; Stepping Under the Military Flag - Episode 2: Ready to Protect the Fatherland - directed by People's Artist Luu Quy; Linh Anh - directed by Nguyen Quang Quyet.
Major General Tran Ngoc Anh, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee of the General Department of Politics, Director of the Political Department (General Department of Politics of the Vietnam People's Army) presented flowers to representatives of the film crews.
In addition, 4 feature films produced by other units were also screened, including: The sound of the gong of destiny - directed by People's Artist Nguyen Khac Loi, People's Artist Le Thi - produced by the People's Army Cinema; The road with the sun - directed by Vu Anh Nhat - produced by the People's Army Cinema; Thau Chin in Xiem - directed by Bui Tuan Dung - produced by the Vietnam Cinema Association Film Studio; Ben Tre Night - directed by People's Artist Tran Phuong - produced by the People's Army Cinema.
Speaking at the opening ceremony of the Film Week, Major General Tran Ngoc Anh, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee of the General Department of Politics, Director of the Political Department (General Department of Politics of the Vietnam People's Army) said that in order to prepare well for the Film Week, the People's Army Cinema has proactively consulted, proposed, and selected documentary and feature films of the unit and domestic film studios on the subject of soldiers and revolutionary war, with high value in content and artistic quality.
"The film week is organized to propagate to officers and soldiers in the entire army and people about the significance, stature and historical value of the 80th anniversary of the founding of the Vietnam People's Army, the 35th anniversary of the National Defense Day, the 80th anniversary of the General Political Department of the Vietnam People's Army; affirming the wise leadership of the Communist Party of Vietnam, President Ho Chi Minh and the spirit of great national unity as the basic factors that make up the achievements and victories of the nation; honoring and expressing gratitude for the merits and contributions of our army and people, especially the great achievements and contributions of officers and soldiers of the people's army.
The works selected for screening during the Film Week once again help us have a clearer and more complete view of the maturity and growth of the Vietnam People's Army, contributing to educating historical traditions and promoting revolutionary heroism for the younger generation," said Major General Tran Ngoc Anh.
The two films screened in the opening program are: Marching Under the Military Flag and The Sound of the Fateful Gong . The film week will run until December 5 at the People's Army Cinema theater./.
