TPO - Poor family circumstances have trained Ngo Vuong Quoc to face life's challenges and study at university after more than 2 years of working part-time in a workshop manufacturing various types of car fixtures. Recently, the research work of Quoc and his group of authors was honored at the 2024 Northern Region "Creative Youth" Festival.
Male student Ngo Vuong Quoc (born in 1999), majoring in Industrial Engineering Management, Faculty of Marine Machinery, Vietnam Maritime University, and the author group of the project "Design and manufacture of a manual assembly station that can be customized according to anthropometrics and integrated with operational monitoring to improve and enhance workers' work efficiency" were honored at the "Creative Youth" Festival in the Northern region in 2024. Relying on himself, Quoc was born and raised in a poor family that was purely agricultural. When he was only in grade 3, Quoc's mother passed away. "At that time, my youngest brother was only 3 years old, my father alone shouldered the responsibility of raising 3 brothers to adulthood in a life of deprivation," Quoc confided. Not wanting to become a burden on his family, after finishing high school, Quoc worked and studied at the Vinfast Technician Center for 2.5 years and manufactured various types of fixtures for vehicles. With a small amount of savings, the male student studied and took the entrance exam to Vietnam Maritime University.
"The feeling of fatigue from staying up late, waking up early, and working overtime nonstop gradually took over me. At those times, I really wanted to give up, but then I thought about my family, thought about the difficulties my father had gone through, I couldn't. I understood that if I didn't try now, the future would become even more difficult," the male student confided. Thanks to his perseverance and constant efforts, Quoc quickly became the student with the highest academic results in the industry. The male student was also honored to win the First Prize in Scientific Research for students of higher education institutions nationwide. Research to increase work efficiency for workers Quoc's research project with a group of authors is "Design and manufacture of a manual assembly station that can be customized according to anthropometrics and integrates operational monitoring to improve work efficiency for workers". "I chose this topic because it is closely related to practical issues and has high applicability, especially in the current context when health and labor productivity issues are increasingly becoming a major concern in the industry," Quoc said.
According to the male student, these methods help analyze and evaluate factors affecting labor efficiency, thereby making practical improvements to the working environment and production processes. To collect enough data, the author team conducted the survey twice with a total of 160 participants, each survey lasting from 10 to 15 minutes. "We had to spend time in crowded areas and call on students to participate. This required patience and good organization to ensure the survey progress was carried out as planned," the male student said. Because the research topic is multidisciplinary, Quoc's team had to combine a variety of knowledge, from ergonomic design to optimizing production processes and applying new technologies. Each member cut, drilled aluminum, fabricated and assembled the parts together. "The moment I was honored at the Northern Region's "Creative Youth" Festival in 2024 with the above work, I felt the meaning of turning ideas on paper into practical solutions, creating positive impacts for the community. In the future, I will continue to acquire knowledge to expand my own limits and open more doors of opportunity in the field of research," Quoc shared.
"When you can't choose the circumstances of your birth, you have to "rely on yourself" to prepare for your life. You just need to know how to face reality, step back, gain momentum, and then move forward," said Vuong Quoc.Although he started college later than his peers, for Quoc, it was time to start. To attend college, Quoc had to borrow money from the bank to cover tuition and other necessary expenses.

Improving working conditions at assembly stations will not only help increase productivity but also protect workers' health, creating a more efficient and safer working environment.
"Knowledge of production system optimization, labor productivity analysis, ergonomic design, and production process management helps us research and propose improvement solutions in a systematic and scientific manner," Quoc said. ![]() |
