This information was shared by Deputy Minister of Information and Communications Nguyen Thanh Lam with Tuoi Tre Online , on the sidelines of the press conference announcing the results of the 16th ASEAN Ministers Responsible for Information Meeting (AMRI 16) in Da Nang on September 23.

Help people access mainstream news

Accordingly, in addition to integrating mainstream press and television applications into the smart TV operating system sold in the Vietnamese market, manufacturers will build shortcuts on the device's remote control for quick access to these platforms.

So far, some major TV manufacturers have notified the Ministry of Information and Communications of this plan. Meanwhile, the remaining TV manufacturers are promoting the implementation.

It is known that this is the result of work between the Ministry of Information and Communications, TV manufacturers and related parties. According to Deputy Minister Lam, this change will help people easily and quickly access quality information and programs from mainstream press platforms.

Ensuring information security, protecting people from fake news and false information from unverified sources that are spreading on cyberspace.

Mr. Lam believes that the current generation of young users has changed the way they approach news. If the authorities and press platforms do not solve this problem, it will cause young readers to lose interest in mainstream journalism.

This is also one of the initiatives that Vietnam presented to ASEAN countries at AMRI 16. According to Mr. Lam, in addition to Vietnam, Malaysia has now deployed this solution for TVs and smartphones. Bringing the national digital television platform to smart TVs and terminals.

Fight against fake news, false news

Speaking about the results of AMRI 16, Deputy Minister Nguyen Thanh Lam said that ASEAN information ministers affirmed the role of the media industry in the new period from information to knowledge.

Information will become an active vehicle for lifelong learning, raising awareness and digital literacy for ASEAN citizens.

Emphasize the role of media in empowering individuals, communities and societies. Shift from passive consumption of information to active acquisition of knowledge. Encourage ASEAN Member States to consider developing a master plan on digital transformation for journalism and media.

The Ministers also adopted the Da Nang Declaration on "Media: From Information to Knowledge for a Resilient and Responsive ASEAN", adopted the Plan of Action of the ASEAN Task Force on Fake News (PoA of TFFN), adopted the Government Information Management Guidelines on Countering Fake News, Disinformation and other contents.
