Ho Chi Minh City Department of Education and Training announced the decision that AISVN International School is not allowed to enroll students in the new school year.
Accordingly, Mr. Le Hoai Nam, Deputy Director of the Department of Education and Training of Ho Chi Minh City, signed a decision to announce that AISVN International School is not allowed to enroll students for grades 1, 6, and 10 and to accept transfer students in the 2024-2025 school year.
The above decision was considered by the Department of Education and Training based on the enrollment conditions of AISVN International School. Currently, the school still does not have a feasible plan to improve the operation situation of the 2023-2024 school year and ensure the conditions for organizing educational activities in the 2024-2025 school year.
Therefore, the Department of Education and Training announced that AISVN International School does not meet the conditions for consideration of enrollment quotas for the 2024-2025 school year, and requested that this school not enroll students at the beginning of grades 1, 6, and 10 and not accept transfer students in the 2024-2025 school year. The Department of Education and Training requested that AISVN International School strictly implement this.
Previously, on April 15, AISVN International School announced to about 1,200 parents that the 2023-2024 school year would end on April 26, while grade 12 students in the IB program would study until May 17. The reason the school ended the school year and students had summer vacation early was because of a lack of teachers and insufficient finances to operate.
It is known that since the beginning of April, representatives of the Department of Education and Training have participated in reviewing and supervising the implementation of salary, social insurance, health insurance for teachers, teaching assistants, foreign staff, Vietnamese people working at the school, housing for foreign teachers and expenses for educational activities in February and March.
The Department of Education and Training has held many working sessions with the Board of Directors of AIS American International Education Joint Stock Company on the restructuring of the unit. At the same time, the Department of Education and Training has directed specialized departments to closely monitor the organization of educational activities of the school, ensuring the completion of the school year plan with the right quality, and not allowing students to interrupt their studies before the end of the school year.
The interdisciplinary working group directed AISVN International School to continue reviewing conditions to ensure teaching and learning activities; complete score records and transcripts until the end of the 2023-2024 school year to ensure student rights. Monitor school operations to ensure the school completes the 2023-2024 school year plan.
