Hoang Xuan Vinh is also the most successful Vietnamese athlete at the Olympics with 1 gold medal, 1 silver medal, accounting for nearly half of the medals won by Vietnamese sports.
Athlete Hoang Xuan Vinh is the only Vietnamese face to have won an Olympic gold medal.
The first Vietnamese athlete to win an Olympic medal was Tran Hieu Ngan (taekwondo), when he won a silver medal at the Sydney Olympics 2000. Then Hoang Anh Tuan (silver medal) and Tran Le Quoc Toan (bronze medal) brought success at the Beijing Olympics 2008 and London Olympics 2012, both in weightlifting.
