INTEGRATING DIFFERENT CRITERIA IN THE SAME APPROACH

According to the announced 2025 enrollment orientation, Ho Chi Minh City National University has reduced enrollment methods, leaving only 3 methods, including: direct enrollment; enrollment based on the results of the competency assessment exam organized by Ho Chi Minh City National University; and enrollment based on the results of the high school graduation exam.

According to the Training Department of Ho Chi Minh City National University, this is a trend of shortening admission methods by integrating different criteria into the same admission method. For example, method 1 is direct admission to select good and talented candidates. This method will include direct admission according to the admission regulations of the Ministry of Education and Training and direct admission, priority admission according to the specific regulations of Ho Chi Minh City National University.

According to the above general orientation, the University of Social Sciences and Humanities plans to reduce the number of admission methods to 3 as directed by Ho Chi Minh City National University (instead of 5 methods as in 2024). The same applies to the University of Information Technology, International University, and University of Economics and Law.

The University of Technology plans to have two main admission methods: Direct admission according to the regulations of the Ministry of Education and Training and Ho Chi Minh City National University; combined admission (assessing capacity, high school graduation exam results, high school academic performance and other capacities). For the transfer and joint programs (considering 150 targets), the school will use the interview method and admission based on international certificates.

ORIENTATION TO ABOLISH THE METHOD OF REPORT GRADE

Meanwhile, some universities are planning to eliminate the admission method based on high school transcripts, for example, Ho Chi Minh City University of Education. Not using transcript scores for admission, in 2025 this university plans to use 4 admission methods, including: direct admission according to the regulations of the Ministry of Education and Training (10% of the target); priority admission and admission of specialized class students (10 - 20% of the target); admission based on specialized competency assessment exams, expected to be applied to more than 30 majors (40 - 50% of the target for each major); admission based on the high school graduation exam in 2025.

Ho Chi Minh City University of Industry and Trade plans to reserve 50-60% of its quota for considering the 2025 high school graduation exam scores. Notably, the school has reduced the quota for considering high school study results for 5 semesters to 15-20%, increased the quota for considering the competency assessment exam scores of Ho Chi Minh City National University and the specialized competency assessment exam scores of Ho Chi Minh City University of Education...

CHANGE THE WAY YOU USE REPORT GRADE SCORE

The draft circular amending and supplementing a number of articles of the Regulations on university and college admissions for preschooleducation recently issued by the Ministry of Education and Training stipulates that if universities use high school study results for admission, they must use the results of the entire 12th grade of the student. With this regulation, universities, especially non-public schools, have planned to consider high school transcripts with certain changes compared to 2024.

At Cuu Long University, Dr. Luong Minh Cu, Principal, said that in 2025, the school will enroll students based on three methods: considering high school graduation exam scores, considering high school transcripts, and considering academic results from intermediate level and above.

"In particular, the method of considering transcripts accounts for 60% of the total enrollment target. In this method, the school uses the average score of the entire 12th grade year of the combination of 3 subjects for admission according to the regulations in the enrollment regulations of the Ministry of Education and Training," said Dr. Cu. Thus, compared to 2024, the school's 2025 transcript method will no longer use the average score of all subjects in the second semester of grade 11 and the first semester of grade 12; the average score of the combination of 3 subjects in the second semester of grade 11, the first semester of grade 12 and the average score of the entire 12th grade year of all subjects.

Meanwhile, Dr. Nguyen Thanh Son, Vice Principal of Yersin University, informed that in 2025, the school plans to recruit 1,756 students for 17 majors with 3 admission methods, including: considering high school graduation exam scores (55 - 60% of total enrollment), Ho Chi Minh City National University's competency assessment exam scores (5 - 10%) and considering academic records (35 - 40%).

"In the high school transcript review method, the school plans to use the average score of grade 12 according to the subject combination or the graduation score of the doctor. The subject combinations will be based on math, literature, English, and at the same time, add subject combinations with technology, economic education and law to consider admission for suitable majors," Dr. Son shared.

T COMBINATION CONTAINING MATH OR LITERATURE, ACCOUNTING FOR AT LEAST 1/3 OF THE TOTAL SCORE

Master Nguyen Phuoc Dai, Head of Training Department of Ho Chi Minh City University of Foreign Languages and Information Technology, said that according to the draft circular, the school plans to have some changes in the admission method, admission combination and early admission. "Specifically, the school will still maintain the admission method based on high school graduation exam scores, the results of the Ho Chi Minh City National University's capacity assessment test and high school transcript scores. With the transcript review method, the school will not consider admission based on the transcript scores of the second semester of grade 11 and the first semester of grade 12 as last year, but will use the transcripts of the two semesters of grade 12," said Master Dai.

Regarding the subject combinations for admission, according to Master Dai, the draft stipulates that math or literature accounts for no less than 1/3 of the total score, and general subjects in an admission combination account for no less than 50%. Therefore, the school will adjust the current subject combinations accordingly. In addition, the school will add some subject combinations for admission to create favorable conditions for PhDs graduating in 2025 and previous years.

Ho Chi Minh City University of Economics and Finance plans to consider admission based on 4 methods: high school graduation exam results (25% quota), Ho Chi Minh City National University's competency assessment exam results (5%), V-SAT exam results (10%) and considering transcripts based on a combination of 3 subjects in grade 12 (60%). "This year, transcripts will not consider the first semester scores of grade 11, second semester of grade 11 and first semester of grade 12 as last year. Regarding subject combinations, the school still uses math and literature as the main subjects in each combination," added Ms. Truong Thi Ngoc Bich, Director of the school's Communication Center.

Meanwhile, in 2025, Lac Hong University will allocate 20% of its score to the high school graduation exam, 10% to the school's capacity assessment, Ho Chi Minh City National University and V-SAT. "The subject group for the graduation exam must also include math or literature with the assessment weight accounting for at least 1/3 of the total score as proposed by the Ministry," Associate Professor, Dr. Nguyen Vu Quynh, Vice Principal of the school, informed.

Dr. Mai Duc Toan, Director of the Admissions and Communications Center of Gia Dinh University, shared that in 2025, the school plans to reserve 65% of its enrollment quota for considering academic records. "Based on the draft regulations, the school will use the results of the semesters in the 11th and 12th grades. In addition, the school will use a new combination that closely follows the 2018 General Education Program," said Dr. Toan.

According to Master Nguyen Thi Xuan Dung, Director of the Media Center of Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology, the school plans to not use the 3-semester transcript admission method but only consider transcripts based on a combination of 3 subjects in grade 12, and at the same time add a method of using V-SAT exam results. The next two methods are considering the results of the high school graduation exam and the 2025 capacity assessment of Ho Chi Minh City National University. "In which, the school increases the quota for the graduation score consideration method compared to 2024, to 45%; reduces the quota for transcripts to 40%, capacity assessment remains at 5% and V-SAT is 10%", said Master Dung.

When will we receive application documents based on transcripts?

With the use of the entire 12th grade transcript scores as prescribed, school representatives said they will accept applications for admission after students have their 12th grade scores, expected after May 30, 2025.

With the method of considering capacity assessment scores, according to Associate Professor, Dr. Nguyen Vu Quynh, when there are results, the candidate can submit the application.
