(Dan Tri) - In 2025, Hanoi University of Science and Technology (USTH) will have many changes in conditions and criteria for regular university admission compared to last year.
The school's announcement on February 4 said that in order to comply with the 2018 general education program, this year USTH will add a number of subjects related to science and technology in the admission combination based on high school graduation exam results.
In particular, the school has reduced the number of subjects in the admission combination using high school academic results combined with interviews from 5 subjects: Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Biology, and Information Technology to 3 subjects to suit the requirements of each training program.
The question bank in the admission method based on the results of the capacity assessment test organized by the school has also been built closely following the new program.

Specifically, in 2025, the school plans to enroll 1,088 students for 17 single-degree programs (USTH degrees) and 3 Vietnamese-French dual-degree programs (1 degree from USTH and 1 degree from a French university).
The school maintains 4 stable methods. Method 1: Admission based on the results of the capacity assessment test organized by the school (with about 47% of the target).
In method 2: Admission based on high school academic results combined with interviews, the school reserves about 20% of the quota.
Method 3: Direct admission according to the school's plan accounts for about 3% of the target and method 4, admission based on high school graduation exam results, the school reserves about 30%.
The aviation engineering program is recruited through methods 1 (PT), PT2 and PT3.
For other single degree programs, admission is based on all four methods. For dual degree programs, admission is based only on the results of the competency assessment test organized by the school.
With method 1 , candidates will go through two rounds including a knowledge test and an interview.
The knowledge test takes place within 150 minutes, conducted on a computer with 100 multiple choice questions, of which the math and logical thinking part includes 40 questions, the remaining 60 questions are built according to a combination of 2 of the 5 subjects: physics, chemistry, biology, English, and computer science (30 questions/subject).
Candidates register for a subject combination that matches one of the subject combinations of the training program they are applying for.
The online interview follows the knowledge test one week later. The interview panel evaluates candidates based on comprehensive criteria, including: knowledge of the school, knowledge of the training program, suitability for the profession, motivation to learn, communication skills and logical reasoning.

In method 2, candidates are exempted from the knowledge test and only need to participate in the interview. The candidates for admission include candidates with an average score of 3 out of 6 subjects: mathematics, physics, chemistry, biology, information technology, English (including the 11th and 12th grade years) that matches one of the subject groups for admission of the training program reaching 8.80/10 or higher.
For the pharmaceutical industry, in addition to the above requirements, candidates need an IELTS English certificate of 5.0 or TOEFL iBT of 35 points or higher.
Method 3: Candidates are considered for direct admission (exempt from knowledge test and interview) if they win prizes in city/province, national or international competitions for excellent students in math, physics, chemistry, biology, informatics, and geography; or win prizes in international science and technology competitions.
With method 4 , candidates will take the 2025 high school graduation exam with a combination of appropriate subjects specifically specified in the school's Admissions Plan.
For PT1, PT2 and PT3, USTH plans to organize 3 admission rounds, including 2 rounds before the high school graduation exam and 1 round after the high school graduation exam.
The specific enrollment schedule is as follows:
