(Dan Tri) - From 2025, Ho Chi Minh City University of Education plans to not use academic transcript scores when enrolling students in a combination method with competency assessment scores.
According to information from Ho Chi Minh City University of Education, it is expected that in 2025, the school will not use transcript scores in the method of using transcripts combined with specialized competency assessment exams. This method accounts for 30-50% of the target in 2024.
However, the school representative said that up to now, the school has not yet issued an official enrollment plan.
The above plan aims to orient specialized competency assessment exams to become an independent admission method and the percentage of total admission quota will increase to about 40-50%.
For the school's specialized competency assessment exam, students must take at least two subjects, including one main subject (depending on the combination).
The admission score is the total score of the main subject multiplied by a coefficient of two, plus the remaining subjects. The admission method based on the score of the specialized competency assessment exam is expected to be applied to more than 30 training majors and about 40-50% of the target depending on the major.

In early 2024, Ho Chi Minh City University of Education announced the results of analyzing the cumulative average scores of students admitted according to different admission methods to the school.
This result is based on data from more than 10,000 students admitted to the school in 3 years 2020, 2021 and 2022.
The 2020 results show that the cumulative average score of students admitted directly is 3.31/4.0; students admitted by high school transcripts have a cumulative average score of 3.19/4.0 and students admitted by high school graduation exam scores are 2.94/4.0.
For students admitted in 2021, the cumulative average scores of the above methods are 3.34; 3.22 and 3.06 respectively on a 4.0 scale.
In 2022, the cumulative average scores for the methods were 3.22; 2.69 and 2.85 respectively on a 4.0 scale.
In addition, in 2022, the school will use an additional admission method combining high school transcript scores and the school's own specialized competency assessment test scores.
The cumulative GPA of students admitted by this method is 3.22/4.0.
According to the school representative, the above data shows that the academic results of students admitted by transcripts are higher than those admitted by high school graduation exam scores. However, the results are lower than those admitted by direct admission.
Recently, Ho Chi Minh City University of Industry and Trade also announced a reduction in admission quota based on high school transcript scores from 30% in 2024 to only 15-20% of the total quota in 2025.
