Ton Duc Thang University is in the top 100 best universities in Asia in 2023

Ton Duc Thang University is among the top 100 best universities in Asia in 2023, according to the Times Higher Education (THE) rankings.

Times Higher Education (THE) has just announced the 2023 Asian university rankings. Vietnam has 6 representatives in this list. Ton Duc Thang University is the top university in Vietnam, ranked 86th in Asia.

Last year, this school and Duy Tan University were the two schools appearing in the top 100 in the rankings, in which Ton Duc Thang University ranked 73rd.

However, this year Duy Tan University “dropped in rank” from 91st to 106th. However, the school’s citation criteria were still highly appreciated by THE and achieved maximum score. This is also the only school in Vietnam to achieve this result.

The remaining four schools ranked include Hanoi National University (ranked 351-400), Hanoi University of Science and Technology (ranked 501-600), Ho Chi Minh City National University (ranked 501-600) and Hue University (ranked 601+).

In 2023, 669 higher education institutions in 31 countries and territories in Asia were ranked by THE. Of which, Japan is the country with the most representatives ranked this year, with 117 schools.

China’s Tsinghua University and Peking University retained their top two spots for the fourth consecutive year. Four Chinese universities made it into the top 10, up one from last year.

Two Singaporean universities still hold their positions in the top 5: National University of Singapore and Nanyang Technological University.

THE is the most prestigious and influential university ranking organization in the world, alongside the rankings of QS and Shanghai Jiao Tong University (China).

This year, THE's Asian university rankings are based on 13 indicators and 5 groups of fields: teaching (learning environment), accounting for 25%; research (volume, income and reputation), accounting for 30%; scientific citations (research influence), accounting for 30%; international outlook (attracting international lecturers, students and research), accounting for 7.5%; industry income (knowledge transfer efficiency), accounting for 7.5%.
