University replaces opening flower baskets with Fatherland Front QR codes

On the morning of September 18, Foreign Trade University held the opening ceremony of the 2024-2025 school year, rewarding the top students in the 2024 entrance exam and outstanding students of the 2023-2024 school year.

At the opening ceremony, after the flag-raising ceremony and singing the national anthem, staff, lecturers and students took a minute to remember the soldiers and people who died due to the impact of storm No. 3 (storm Yagi).

The most different thing this year is that instead of congratulatory flower baskets, the school has a QR code of the Central Relief Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front so that delegates, teachers and students can proactively contribute to help people in localities that have suffered severe consequences of natural disasters and floods.

This flower basket is placed permanently on the school campus to spread the spirit of community.

Previously, the school sent a message to partners and publicly posted information about the opening ceremony not accepting flowers.

"To express our sympathy and heartfelt gratitude to the people of the localities that have suffered severe consequences of natural disasters and floods caused by storm No. 3 (storm Yagi), Foreign Trade University would like to not accept congratulatory flowers from individuals, organizations, businesses, and partners on the occasion of the opening ceremony of the 2024-2025 school year on September 18, 2024 at the Hanoi Headquarters," the announcement stated.

Instead, Foreign Trade University hopes that the congratulations of individuals, organizations, businesses, and partners can be converted into contributions to support movements/funds to overcome the consequences of natural disasters, floods as well as individuals/households in difficult circumstances in general, to make the ceremony more meaningful.

Speaking at the opening ceremony, Associate Professor Dr. Bui Anh Tuan, Principal of Foreign Trade University, called on staff, teachers and students to join hands for the community.

"I call on all teachers, school officials, students, and postgraduates to participate in volunteer activities, support people affected by natural disasters, and build solidarity in the community.

Every small action, every contribution of ours can make a big difference. The ecosystem of each individual certainly contributes to building a stronger, more sustainable society," said Associate Professor, Dr. Bui Anh Tuan.

According to the school principal, entering university is not only an important milestone in the learning journey but also an opportunity for students to shape themselves, explore the world and determine their future path.

The opening ceremony of the new academic year 2024-2025 of Foreign Trade University this year had the presence of more than 3,000 new students of the 63rd course, new students of joint training programs with foreign countries, part-time students, and international students studying at the Hanoi headquarters.

Previously, from August 27 to 30, Foreign Trade University organized a program to welcome new students of K63 to enroll at all 3 campuses nationwide, to help new students quickly get acquainted with the living and studying environment at university level.
