Today (December 17), the University of Finance and Marketing held a workshop on breakthrough development solutions for the school in the period 2024-2030, with a vision to 2045. One of the important points is the regulations and policies for lecturers.
Associate Professor, Dr. Pham Tien Dat, Principal of University of Finance and Marketing, shared at the workshop
At the workshop, Associate Professor Dr. Pham Tien Dat, Principal of the University of Finance and Marketing, informed about the important orientation plans of the school in the coming time. Regarding training, Associate Professor Dat mentioned the majors that the school will focus on pursuing in areas such as: public finance, corporate finance, accounting-auditing, securities, valuation, macroeconomic analysis and forecasting and fiscal policy. In addition, the school's training majors are also linked to the business activities of other enterprises.
"In general, regarding training professions, the school determines not to follow the market," affirmed the Principal of the University of Finance and Marketing.
According to Associate Professor Dat, the school will review the entire training program from undergraduate, master's and doctoral levels; refer to the training programs of universities in advanced countries; refer to and integrate subjects of training programs of prestigious professional organizations in the world; associated with the process of digital transformation of the economy, green economy, circular economy, etc.
Notably, the school's training program will gradually eliminate subjects such as basic English and applied computer science. The school will replace them with other subjects such as specialized English or big data... Regarding testing, the school will gradually change the forms of testing and assessment to reduce stress for students during the learning process.
In addition to the training program, the university also has a policy on lecturers. Mr. Dat said that it is necessary to clarify the roles and responsibilities of the academic ranks and degrees when attracting and appointing. The university will move towards applying a roadmap to reduce financial support for the implementation of academic ranks and degrees and increase support for other mechanisms and policies. At the same time, the university plans to increase scientific research hours and reduce teaching hours for lecturers.
Also in the workshop, the issue of whether departments should exist in universities was raised. Regarding this issue, Associate Professor, Dr. Pham Quoc Khanh, Deputy Director of the Department of Quality Management (Ministry of Education and Training), said that with the current academic autonomy mechanism, the school can completely experiment with a new model of departments. However, according to Mr. Khanh, the model of faculties and departments is very diverse in the world, in which departments are the important core. Therefore, the school needs to research and consider further about this adjustment.
