Right after the Hanoi Department of Education and Training announced the benchmark scores, many people were surprised because this year Doan Ket High School "dropped dramatically" from 40 to 23.75.
Responding to Dan Tri reporter, Ms. Nguyen Thi Hong Hai, Principal of Doan Ket High School, said that last year the school had a standard score of 40 points for the first choice (NV1), 41 points for NV2 and 42 points for NV3. These scores are among the highest in the city.
"Because last year the school had a high admission score, this year many parents may be worried and not dare to choose their school, the rate of students registering for the school is lower than the assigned quota, leading to a sharp decrease in admission scores," said Ms. Hai.
Sharing about the solution to prevent benchmark scores from fluctuating too much like this year, Ms. Hai said that "this problem should be left to managers".

It is known that this year the school was assigned 675 quotas, the number of students registering for NV1 was 554, about 500 students had over 33 points, only one student passed with 23.75 points.
According to Ms. Hai, the admission score is quite high. "This year's admission score is a worthy gift for the brave students who registered for the school," Ms. Hai shared.
According to the school, this is the school year with the lowest standard score, but this is not a concern because parents will have an objective view of the school over the years. For students with weaker academic performance, the school will have a training plan to help them catch up with their peers.
In this year's 10th grade high school exam, high schools with low admission scores include: Minh Quang High School only requires 18 points. Some schools such as My Duc C High School, Bac Luong Son High School, Luu Hoang High School, Dai Cuong High School require 19-21 points. Students only need to achieve an average of about 4.2 points/subject to be admitted to the school. Doan Ket High School is on the list of 10 schools with low scores above.
Speaking to Dan Tri reporter earlier, Mr. Nguyen Quang Tuan, Deputy Director of Hanoi Department of Education and Training, said that this is completely normal because according to the enrollment trend, if the school has a high admission score last year, the next year the parents of the students are afraid that it will be difficult to pass so they do not submit their applications, leading to the school lacking the quota and having to lower the admission score.
On the contrary, some schools had low scores last year, parents rushed to submit applications, causing this year's benchmark score to increase, such as Thang Long High School, which had a benchmark score of 40 last year but this year it increased to 42.25 points.

This year's exam had the participation of 117,361 candidates. Of which, about 106,000 candidates registered their first choice for non-specialized grade 10.
The valedictorian with 48.5 points is student Nguyen Hoang Minh Quan of Hanoi - Amsterdam High School for the Gifted.
A total of 1,925 candidates scored 45 points or more, an average of 9 points/subject.
From the 40-point mark and above, 29,130 candidates passed. This number accounts for about 39.5% of the total target of 119 public high schools (excluding autonomous and jointly managed public schools).
This year, Hanoi assigned 119 public high schools to enroll 1,657 new classes and 73,695 students for grade 10.
Of which, 4 specialized schools and specialized classes recruited 82 new classes and 2,970 students.
8 autonomous public high schools recruit 85 new classes and 3,555 students.
The total target is 77,250 students. Compared to 2023, the total target increased by more than 1,500 students.
