After the match between Thanh Hoa and Hai Phong clubs in round 10 of V.League, coach Chu Dinh Nghiem was not satisfied with the VAR operation. This coach said that VAR worked for too long, affecting the players' fighting spirit.

Mr. Dang Thanh Ha - Head of the VFF Referee Board said: " The viewpoint of FIFA and the Referee Board is always consistent in terms of accuracy, not time ."

Mr. Dang Thanh Ha assessed that the situation requiring 8 minutes of VAR check in the match at Thanh Hoa Stadium was difficult, requiring a lot of time and analysis from many perspectives. Specifically, in the 41st minute, Luiz Antonio kicked the ball outside the penalty area. The ball hit the post before bouncing to Nguyen Thanh Long. This center back scored to raise the score to 2-1.

VAR referee Tran Dinh Thinh and assistant referee Ngo Duy Lan checked whether Thanh Hoa's Rimario Gordon obstructed goalkeeper Dinh Trieu's vision while in an offside position. In the end, the main referee recognized the goal to raise the score to 2-1 for the home team.

The Head of the VFF Referee Board said that, compared to the initial implementation period, the time for checking VAR has also been significantly reduced. He highly appreciated the effectiveness of VAR and the efforts of the referee teams operating VAR at V.League 2023/24.

" VAR is increasingly showing its role and effectiveness. Through mechanical statistics, we can all see that the appearance of VAR has greatly supported the main referee, especially in difficult situations. Thanks to the support of VAR, the main referee has made accurate decisions and the tournament has become fairer, " Mr. Dang Thanh Ha shared.

V.League currently has 2 VAR vehicles. VAR will be applied to 2 to 3 matches in each round. VPF Company and VFF Referee Board are gradually realizing the goal of being able to "cover" VAR in all matches in V.League 1.

" Currently, the number of referees and assistant referees licensed to operate VAR has increased. We are calculating to assign new graduates to work alongside experienced people. VAR referee training is still planned to be implemented regularly. The referee board also hopes that VAR will soon be applied in all V.League 1 matches ," Mr. Dang Thanh Ha shared.

In round 11, 3 matches will apply VAR including Hanoi Police Club vs Thanh Hoa (February 27), Hai Phong vs Song Lam Nghe An (February 27) and Nam Dinh Club vs Hanoi FC (February 28).
