In 2019, there was the 70th Anniversary of the establishment of Huynh Thuc Khang Journalism School with the joy of receiving the National Historical Relic Ranking Certificate. Today, after 5 years, the joy continues as the inauguration and handover of the renovation and embellishment project is approaching.
Talking to reporters of the Journalist & Public Opinion Newspaper, journalist Than Quang Minh - Head of the Professional Department, Vietnam Journalism Museum, member of the Management Board of the National Monument of Huynh Thuc Khang Journalism School said that with the desire to continue to preserve and promote the value and historical stature of the Monument on the occasion of the 75th anniversary of the School's founding and towards the 100th anniversary of Vietnam Revolutionary Press Day, the Vietnam Journalism Museum was directed by the Vietnam Journalists Association to establish a project to restore and embellish the Monument of Huynh Thuc Khang Journalism School's founding site, and was trusted by the leaders and departments of Thai Nguyen province to be the Investor...
Implementing the direction of the leaders of the Vietnam Journalists Association and the leaders of the Vietnam Press Museum on participating in the project to restore and embellish the National Monument of Huynh Thuc Khang Journalism School, the professional department of the Vietnam Press Museum immediately started to carry out the work, including consulting with management consultants, design consultants and contractors to ensure the work progress as planned.
On January 18, 2024, the groundbreaking ceremony for the restoration of the Huynh Thuc Khang Journalism School National Monument was held. Up to now, after 7 months of construction, with the active coordination of the leaders and departments of Thai Nguyen province, Dai Tu district, Tan Thai commune and the support of the Vietnam National Oil and Gas Group (Petrovietnam), the Huynh Thuc Khang Journalism School project has basically completed the main items.
The project to restore and embellish the National Monument of Huynh Thuc Khang Journalism School is being urgently completed.
Accordingly, with the effort to not only recreate history but also ensure high aesthetics as well as add necessary functions, in addition to the Monument Stele that has been erected since 2019, the restoration and embellishment process currently has specific components such as: Exhibition house about Huynh Thuc Khang Journalism School, in the form of a 4-level house of 80 m2 built on a high hill, modeled after recorded documents and some remaining documentary images, formerly a bamboo house, now a wooden frame house, fireproof artificial thatched roof; Exhibition house on Viet Bac War Zone Journalism 1946 - 1954, 80 m2 wide, modeled after the stilt house of the Viet Minh Headquarters, where resistance journalism activities were directly directed and also where the Vietnam Journalists Association was established in 1950; Reliefs with 48 portraits of members of the Board of Directors, lecturers and students of the School; The hall inside the hill serves conferences, seminars and other activities, with a capacity of over 150 people; The mini square serves event organization, 200 m2 wide...
Devote yourself to rain or shine…
Sharing about the preparation work, journalist Than Quang Minh - Head of Professional Department, Vietnam Press Museum, member of the Management Board of the National Monument Huynh Thuc Khang Journalism School said that in these "final" days, the Museum staff are completing the final stages from collecting documents and artifacts, working on the design and organizing the construction of the exhibition.
“Over the past year, we have become more attached to the project as well as the land and people of Thai Nguyen, a land rich in cultural, historical and revolutionary traditions, as we have organized dozens of working trips between Hanoi and Thai Nguyen to connect with units in implementing the assigned tasks. After the project was inaugurated, one of the things that left us with a deep impression was the precious feelings of people from different units participating in the project, when they devoted themselves regardless of the sun or rain to be able to put this meaningful project into use soon… ” – Journalist Quang Minh emphasized.
Mr. Minh also added that the relic after restoration and embellishment is expected to be exploited, organized to welcome delegations of visitors, journalists, people working in the media and journalism industry, students and pupils to study and experience the history of journalism; at the same time, it will be a place to organize conferences and seminars on journalism, organize short-term training programs, issue membership cards of the Vietnam Journalists Association, award ceremonies for regional and local journalism awards, etc.
In particular, the Vietnam Journalists Association hopes that when put into operation, the exhibitions on Huynh Thuc Khang Journalism School and Viet Bac War Zone Press here will not only contribute to preserving and introducing valuable press documents and artifacts from the period 1946 - 1954 but also affirm the great achievements of the Vietnamese Revolutionary Press in the struggles to defend the country and in the journey of national construction.
And it can be said that in just a few days, on the shore of Nui Coc Lake, reflecting on the historical land of Tan Thai, a complex of relics designed and constructed from the remaining memories and documents of the house - bamboo lecture hall on the hill and the stilt house of the Viet Minh Headquarters, like two miniature museums, the Vietnam Press Museum has made efforts to carry out two exhibitions "Viet Bac War Zone Journalism" and "Huynh Thuc Khang Journalism School". Equally prominent is the "mini square" of over 200 m2, with an impressive relief that will surprise and create emotions for visitors.
As the investor, the Vietnam Press Museum will coordinate with the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Thai Nguyen province, the People's Committee of Dai Tu district, the Monument Management Board and related units to continue to complete, have plans and projects to manage, protect and promote this monument, linking with historical and cultural relics of the Viet Bac War Zone, creating a meaningful sightseeing route, an attractive cultural - historical address for domestic and foreign tourists to visit and commemorate the merits of our ancestors.
Vietnam Press Museum works with Thai Nguyen Departments to prepare for the inauguration ceremony.
With the mindset and harmonious coordination between the investor and the locality, journalist Tran Thi Kim Hoa - in charge of the Vietnam Press Museum affirmed: "We will continue to develop plans to coordinate with the authorities with the aim of putting the Huynh Thuc Khang Journalism School relic into the list of tourist attractions of the "Capital of Winds" - the capital of the country during the resistance war against French colonialism (including Cao - Bac - Lang - Ha - Tuyen - Thai), in which Thai Nguyen holds a particularly important position, the central position of the "Capital of Resistance".
The signing ceremony of cooperation to organize the program "Media, practical experience: History and Heritage of Vietnam's Revolutionary Press" chaired by the Vietnam Press Museum in coordination with the Management Board of the National Historical Site of Huynh Thuc Khang Journalism School, Tan Thai Commune People's Committee and Nhi Van Media Joint Stock Company (Nhi Van Media), which took place on the afternoon of July 27, 2024, at the headquarters of Tan Thai Commune (Dai Tu District, Thai Nguyen Province) is a good start for this goal.
