Minister of Education and Training Nguyen Kim Son inspects the organization of high school graduation exams in Ho Chi Minh City.
According to Thanh Nien Newspaper reporters, the market for exam cheating devices is quite active before the main candidates enter the high school graduation exam (June 28-29). On websites, there are advertisements for sale from only a few hundred thousand to a few million VND, candidates can easily rent or buy products such as super small headphones, super small cameras and other high-tech devices, with the advertised function of "supporting" the exam.
Faced with this situation, Mr. Le Hoai Nam, Deputy Director of the Department of Education and Training of Ho Chi Minh City, said that the Department of Education and Training is closely coordinating with the police force to deploy effective solutions to prevent and combat the use of high technology to cheat in this year's high school graduation exam. "Especially in the context of the resurgence of advertising and trading of camouflaged devices, sophisticated designs, super small with the ability to record audio, video, secret conversations, easy to use for cheating in exams," Mr. Nam emphasized.
In addition, Mr. Nam gave notes and warnings about the items candidates are allowed to bring into the exam room.
Specifically, in the 2023 high school graduation exam regulations, the Ministry of Education and Training stipulates that the items candidates are allowed to bring into the exam room include: pens, pencils, compasses, erasers, rulers, calculators; calculators without text editing functions, no memory cards; Vietnam Geography Atlas for geography (no markings or writing any other content).
Prohibited items to bring into the exam room include: carbon paper, erasers, alcoholic beverages, weapons, explosives, documents, and information transmission and storage devices that can be used to cheat on exams such as phones, smart watches, computers with memory cards, recording devices, etc.
Thus, according to Mr. Nam, candidates are allowed to bring into the examination room essential items related to ensuring their own health such as clothes, shoes, glasses, drinking water, medicine, etc. These items must not contain information for the purpose of cheating on the exam and must not have the features of storing, transmitting, receiving information or images in any form.
Candidates need to clearly understand the information about items that are allowed and not allowed to be brought into the exam room.
Mr. Nam added that the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Education and Training has requested that testing sites fully disseminate, check and remind candidates to clearly understand the information about items that are allowed and not allowed to be brought into the testing room. Any violations, whether intentional or unintentional, will be handled according to regulations.
In addition, Mr. Nam said that according to the regulations for the 2023 high school graduation exam, all exam sites in Ho Chi Minh City will be arranged with an area to store candidates' personal belongings. This area will be at least 25 meters away from the exam rooms to ensure safety and seriousness for the exam.
Mr. Nam further instructed that candidates should only bring to the high school graduation exam site items that are really necessary for the exam and the exam process. These items should be kept in a white, colorless shirt folder. Candidates should not bring other items such as backpacks or handbags to the exam site.
