The National Exhibition and Fair Center is a project that combines economic development with culture and industry.

On the morning of August 30, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh attended the groundbreaking ceremony of the National Exhibition and Fair Center project in Dong Anh district, Hanoi.

Attending the groundbreaking ceremony were Party Central Committee member, Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Nguyen Van Hung; Party Central Committee member, Chairman of Hanoi People's Committee Tran Sy Thanh, leaders of ministries, branches, central agencies and Hanoi city.

The National Exhibition Fair Center is a national key project in the field of trade and services, replacing the old Exhibition Center in Giang Vo.

The project has a total scale of up to 90 hectares, belonging to the TOP of the largest exhibition centers in the world. The Center Complex is expected to be an international destination for leading global trade events and exhibitions.

Project linking economic development with cultural industry

Speaking at the ceremony, the Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism stated that in order to practically celebrate the 79th anniversary of the August Revolution (August 19, 1945 - August 19, 2024) and National Day September 2, today in Dong Anh district, Hanoi - the city for peace, the city of a thousand years of culture, under the chairmanship of Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh, we solemnly held the groundbreaking ceremony of the National Exhibition and Fair Center.

The event is even more meaningful as the project was started in a land rich in culture, the hometown of the late General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong - an outstanding leader of the Vietnamese revolution, a great cultural figure of the nation.

According to Minister Nguyen Van Hung, in recent times, under the direction of the Government, the drastic and close direction of the Prime Minister, the active participation of ministries, branches, provinces and centrally-run cities, and the business community, the cultural sector in general, the cultural industry and cultural institutions in particular have received attention for investment and development.

Minister Nguyen Van Hung said that the National Exhibition and Fair Center is not only a simple cultural institution, but also a project that links economic development with cultural industry.

With the goal of investing in developing a modern Exhibition Center, worthy of the development scale of a dynamic Vietnam, increasingly integrating internationally, the Government and the Prime Minister have assigned the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, Hanoi City and relevant agencies, and the strategic investor, Vingroup Corporation, to research and invest in the project.

"The implementation process still faces many difficulties due to objective and subjective reasons, the investment preparation time is also prolonged, but with the urging and drastic direction of the Government, the Prime Minister and ministries, the companionship of Hanoi city and with the highest determination of investors, we have focused and determined to start the project," the Minister emphasized.

With a scale of over 90 hectares, the National Exhibition and Fair Center is among the largest exhibition centers in the world and is also a new highlight of the capital Hanoi. When it comes into operation, it will certainly be a destination for the world's leading trade and exhibition events, affirming Vietnam's steadfast position, bravery and intelligence, proactive in deep international integration and gradually realizing the strong aspiration that the Party and State have set and strive for.

Minister Nguyen Van Hung affirmed that, with the task assigned by the Government, in the field of state management of exhibitions, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism commits to closely coordinate with Hanoi city and the investor in the process of project implementation, effectively operating and exploiting the facilities of the National Exhibition and Fair Center in accordance with current legal regulations.

Minister Nguyen Van Hung emphasized that the groundbreaking ceremony of the National Exhibition Fair Center helps us to understand more deeply the directions and requirements of Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh in his speech at the National Cultural Industry Conference when identifying the exhibition industry as one of the 12 groups of cultural industries.

From there, we must know how to combine and mobilize internal and external resources in a harmonious, reasonable and effective manner, to build an independent, self-reliant economy, actively and proactively integrating deeply, substantially and effectively into the international community. Taking internal resources, including human resources, nature, and historical and cultural traditions, is fundamental and a long-term strategy for decision, while external resources are important and breakthrough.

On this occasion, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism would like to express its sincere thanks to the Government for its deep concern for the cultural sector in general and the cultural industry in particular. The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism also requests that relevant ministries and Hanoi continue to accompany and assist Vingroup Corporation in accelerating the project's progress and putting the project into operation and exploitation soon.

International destination for leading trade events and exhibitions

Speaking at the event, Chairman of the Hanoi People's Committee Tran Sy Thanh expressed his hope that the project will become a highlight in terms of fine arts and be capable of organizing international political - economic - cultural events of regional and world significance; events held here will create opportunities for the City to expand cultural exchanges and connections and promote investment, trade and tourism; creating new momentum to develop the "Cultured - Civilized - Modern" Capital in the spirit of Resolution No. 15 of the Politburo.

In the coming time, Hanoi city will continue to accompany and support the investor in implementing the project, with the goal of putting the project into operation as soon as possible.

In addition, the City will accelerate the investment in developing urban transport infrastructure and the system of bridges across the Red River such as Tu Lien Bridge, Ring Road 3 north of the city, Ring Road 4 - Capital Region, urban railway lines, etc. to create synchronous connections between the National Exhibition and Fair Center and neighboring areas, effectively exploit the value of the project and contribute to promoting the socio-economic development of the Capital.

Chairman of the Hanoi People's Committee Tran Sy Thanh also requested the investor to continue to actively coordinate with the city's departments, branches and sectors in implementing project management; strictly comply with procedures, processes and technical regulations; regularly monitor, inspect and promptly resolve arising problems; ensure labor safety, traffic safety and environmental sanitation.

The National Exhibition Center project is located right at the Northeast gateway of Hanoi, the center of important traffic arteries to the provinces including roads, airways and planned metro. From the project, it only takes 15 minutes to move to Noi Bai International Airport, 5 minutes to Hoan Kiem and Tay Ho districts via Tu Lien bridge (under construction), adjacent to the future metro line connecting Dong Anh with other locations in Hanoi city. Currently, the project is conveniently connected to the center of Hanoi via National Highway 5 extension, Truong Sa road and Dong Tru and Nhat Tan bridges.

The exhibition space is built under the solid Kim Quy statue, divided into 9 sub-areas with an area of ​​over 10,000m2/sub-area and a main hall of over 7,000m2. Supporting the indoor exhibition space are modernly equipped functional buildings such as reception rooms, conference rooms, restaurants..., meeting the needs of organizing exhibitions in all fields and industries.

In particular, the investor also focused on bringing nature into the exhibition design by installing glass on the lobby and central space, capturing the bright sunlight every day, giving visitors a unique sensory experience. Surrounding the exhibition area are lakes and trees, creating a fresh and pleasant outdoor relaxation space.

In conjunction with the main exhibition building are four outdoor exhibition parks that accommodate many large-scale activities taking place at the same time, with a total outdoor exhibition space area of ​​up to 20.6 hectares.

After the main construction is completed, two other small-scale indoor exhibition halls will also be deployed to increase the scale and choice for customers.

Serving the core exhibition area is an ecosystem of diverse auxiliary works, including commercial and service areas, high-rise offices, a 5-star international hotel expected to be managed by Marriott, outdoor parking areas...

With the official groundbreaking of the National Exhibition and Fair Center in Dong Anh, Vingroup continues to make its mark as one of the pioneering enterprises contributing to changing the urban landscape and promoting local economic development.
