On March 28, SCMP published the above information, stating that this conference is expected to be held in Switzerland, but the time has not been determined.
During his visit to Europe last week, China's Special Envoy for Eurasian Affairs Li Hui mentioned the importance of Russia's participation in the Ukraine summit.
The first destination of Mr. Li Hui’s trip was Moscow. According to SCMP , the diplomat then informed Europe of two preconditions for Russia to start negotiations: the West must stop supplying weapons to Ukraine and abolish the decree on negotiations with Moscow.
Most European countries opposed inviting Russia, and the envoy received support only from Switzerland. In many ways, the stance of EU member states will depend on whether Kiev wants the presence of a Russian delegation.
However, on the same day, at a joint press conference with his Turkish counterpart Recep Tayyip Erdogan in Ankara, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky expressed opposition to Russia's participation in the peace summit.
According to Mr. Zelensky, Kiev wants to achieve a fair peace and "does not want to see Russian representatives at such a summit... First, civilized countries will develop a plan, only then will Russian representatives be invited."
At this press conference, President Erdogan announced that Türkiye is still ready to organize and conduct a peace summit with the participation of Russia and Ukraine.
In late February, Mr. Zelensky announced a summit based on his “peace formula,” scheduled to take place in the next few months.
