The Chinese Communist Party "decided to suspend Mr. Miao Hua from work to serve the investigation," Xinhua news agency quoted Defense Ministry spokesman Wu Qian as saying.
Wu Qian did not provide details of the charges against Admiral Miao Hua, a member of the Central Military Commission of the Communist Party of China. The spokesman said only that Miao Hua was suspected of serious disciplinary violations.
Also at the press conference, the spokesman denied rumors that Defense Minister Dong Jun was being investigated for corruption.
"Those are purely fabricated stories," said Mr. Ngo Khiem, adding that such rumors come from bad intentions.
Formerly a naval commander, Dong Jun was appointed China's Minister of National Defense in December 2023, after his predecessor Li Shangfu was unexpectedly dismissed after 7 months in office.
On July 18, the 3rd Plenary Session of the 20th Central Committee of the Communist Party of China decided to expel Li Shangfu, Li Yuchao, former Commander of the Rocket Force, and Sun Jinming, Chief of Staff of the Rocket Force, from the Party for serious violations of discipline and the law, according to Xinhua News Agency.
The conference also agreed to let former Foreign Minister Qin Gang resign as a member of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China.
