The "strict with himself" official fell off his horse.
Public information shows that Mr. Chung Tu Nhien was born in August 1962, in Dong Thanh city, Anhui province - a large province with rich mineral resources in eastern China.
Mr. Chung worked for many years and held important positions at the Ministry of Land and Resources (formerly) of China, such as: Director of the Geological Survey Department, Ministry of Land and Resources; Deputy Director, Deputy Party Secretary of the China Geological Survey Department; former Chief Engineer of the Ministry of Land and Resources...
In July 2014, Mr. Chung Tu Nhien was promoted to Director of the China Geological Survey.
Upon taking office, Mr. Chung declared that implementing the central government's directives and the party group's requirements was a heavy and difficult responsibility, requiring the consensus and joint efforts of all cadres and employees of the China Geological Survey.
"I believe that as long as everyone has the same mindset and works hard together in one place, we will be able to create a new vision for the China Geological Survey, worthy of the trust of the organization, worthy of the trust of the leadership, and meet the expectations of the people," he said.
In the coming work, we will resolutely implement the decisions of the Central Committee and the requirements of the Party cell, constantly improve our leadership, management and team leadership capacity, focus on serving the organization, rely entirely on the progress of science and technology, and be absolutely strict with ourselves."
After the establishment of the Ministry of Natural Resources of China in 2018, Zhong Ziran was the Party Secretary and Director of the China Geological Survey.
Since May and June 2020, the Sixth Inspection Team of the Central Committee has conducted regular inspections of the China Geological Survey.
The central inspection team pointed out that the China Geological Survey has not made sufficient efforts to prevent and control integrity risks in some areas. At the same time, formalism, bureaucracy, and violations of the Chinese government's eight-point anti-corruption code still exist. In addition, the inspection team said that it had received complaints from some leaders and had forwarded them to higher levels for handling according to relevant regulations.
At that time, Mr. Zhong Ziran, as the Party cell secretary and head of the agency, declared: "The issues pointed out by the central inspection team are realistic and to the point. The proposed rectification requirements are accurate, profound, clear and specific. The China Geological Survey Party cell fully acknowledges, complies with all orders and resolutely rectify."
In September 2022, Mr. Zhong Ziran was removed from his position as Director of the China Geological Survey after 8 years in this position.
According to public reports, Mr. Chung's last appearance was more than half a month ago, when he attended a symposium organized by China's Ministry of Natural Resources.
The China Geological Survey is a public service unit under the Ministry of Natural Resources of China, responsible for implementing and organizing the unified exploration of national strategic, public welfare and basic geological and mineral resources, providing basic geological information to contribute to China's economic and social development and public welfare services to society.
Before Mr. Zhong Ziran, many officials of the China Geological Survey have been investigated in recent years.
In December 2022, Mr. Mao Jinli, Deputy Director of the System Operation Department of the Development Research Center of the China Geological Survey, was suspected of serious violations of discipline and law.
Mr. Mao is currently under disciplinary review by the Discipline Inspection Team of the Central Commission for Discipline Inspection and the National Supervision Commission of the Ministry of Natural Resources of China, and is also under investigation and supervision by the Supervision Commission of Yichang City, Hubei Province.
In December 2019, Mr. Mai Nham Huy, Director of the Oil and Gas Resources Survey Center of the China Geological Survey, and Ma Dung Thang, an employee of the Exploration Technology Department, were investigated.
"Tiger Attack" on the first day of the year
Every New Year, news about “tiger fighting” is often the focus of Chinese public opinion. For example, on January 6, 2023, 3 “big tigers” were examined and investigated for suspected serious violations of discipline and law, causing a stir in public opinion in this country.
They are Mr. Ji Binchang, former Chairman of the Qingdao City People's Political Consultative Conference, Shandong Province; Mr. He Zehua, former member of the Party Cell Leading Group and Deputy Director of the State Tobacco Monopoly Administration; and Mr. Wang Xuefeng, former Vice Chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress of Hebei Province.
Over the past year, more than 40 central management officials in China have been announced to be under investigation, of which about 30 have been announced to be punished.
According to China News, the moves send a strong signal from the Chinese government that "the fight against corruption will never stop."
In the next few days, the 3rd plenary session of the 20th Central Commission for Discipline Inspection will be held, and public opinion will pay much attention to new trends in the next phase of anti-corruption.
