Leaders of the Agricultural Extension Station visited and instructed on techniques for growing Tu Quy bamboo to sell bamboo shoots and leaves.

Mr. Lung said that in 2021, through news updates, he saw the effective Four Seasons bamboo growing model of Mr. Nguyen Van Cua in Can Tho, from which Mr. Lung learned about and visited Mr. Cua's bamboo garden.

Through field visits, Mr. Lung found this model effective and suitable for his conditions, so he boldly bought bamboo seedlings to plant.

With an area of 3,000m2 of ineffective banana cultivation, Mr. Lung switched to growing 170 Tu Quy bamboo bushes and started harvesting them in 2022 until now.

Mr. Lung shared: Four Seasons Bamboo is easy to grow, grows quickly, has many bamboo shoots, very suitable for the land here, requires little care and low investment costs, and can be harvested after about a year of planting.

Growing Four Seasons bamboo can yield both shoots and leaves. If well cared for, it can yield year-round harvests.

Mr. Lung added that in 2023, with 170 Tu Quy bamboo bushes, the average selling price of bamboo shoots is 15,000 VND/kg, selling bamboo leaves is 7,000 VND/kg and selling bamboo seedlings is 20,000 VND/tree, he has an income of 65 million VND (of which: income from selling bamboo shoots is 30 million VND, selling leaves is 20 million VND and selling bamboo seedlings is 15 million VND).

After deducting the investment cost of 15 million VND, Mr. Dao Van Lung of My Quoi hamlet, Cay Duong town, Phung Hiep district, Hau Giang province still had a profit of 50 million VND.

Currently, Mr. Lung's Tu Quy bamboo garden is growing well and continuing to harvest.

Mr. Lung expects his income in 2024 to be higher than in 2023 because this year the bamboo bushes have more trees, so they produce more shoots and leaves. He plans to invest in expanding the model and continue to branch out and sell seeds to increase his income.
