With 15,000 m2 of garden area, before planting ginseng, Mr. Truong's family in Lien Chung commune, Tan Yen district, Bac Giang province planted lychee, then switched to growing dragon fruit, but the economic efficiency was not high.

From a few dozen Danh mountain ginseng roots at first, Mr. Nguyen Quy Truong's family in Lanh Tranh 1 village, Lien Chung commune, Tan Yen district, Bac Giang province has now expanded the ginseng growing area to more than 1 hectare.
According to Mr. Truong, according to the correct cycle, it takes 5 years to harvest ginseng roots. However, during that time, each year there is a harvest of Nam Nui Danh ginseng flowers.
The mountain ginseng tree of Danh started to flower after nearly 1 year of planting. The ginseng flowering season lasts from late August to mid-October.

Selling buds of Danh mountain ginseng helps Mr. Nguyen Quy Truong's family earn hundreds of millions of dong each year.
To get the best quality ginseng buds, they must be harvested manually in the early morning. They are then processed by heat, dried or dried in a rotary kiln while the flowers are still fresh until the flowers reach a minimum moisture content of about 13%, Mr. Truong shared.
According to research results, ginseng roots and flowers contain substances including saponins, flavonoids, organic acids, amino acids, and saccharides.
The saponin content of Dan mountain ginseng is equivalent to Korean ginseng and 30% of Ngoc Linh ginseng of Quang Nam province.
The older the ginseng plant is, the higher the content of these substances, giving it a higher economic value. Saponin in ginseng has the effect of providing many valuable nutrients for the body such as amino acids, vitamins, minerals, aromatic oils, etc.
The precious active ingredient saponin in Danh mountain ginseng in Tan Yen district (Bac Giang province) also helps to increase vitality, increase immunity, anti-oxidation, prevent aging; loosen phlegm, cure cough; increase cell permeability in the body, increase the ability to digest and absorb nutrients; anti-inflammatory, antibacterial, antifungal...
Danh Mountain ginseng is a precious medicinal herb for human health, so it is increasingly popular in the market. This is the basis for making ginseng a crop that is and will bring high economic value to Mr. Truong's family in particular and the people of Tan Yen district in general in the coming years.
In addition to growing ginseng, at the end of 2021, through the agricultural extension officer of Lien Chung commune, Mr. Truong's family was approached and boldly applied the model of raising herbal chickens with mountain ginseng with a scale of 1,000-2,000 chickens/batch, the No. 1 sugarcane chicken breed of Dabaco company.
The technique of raising chickens with herbs is not much different from raising chickens in general. The difference is that the source of drinking water for the chickens comes from the Danh mountain ginseng plant.
Using the stem, leaves, and roots of the ginseng plant, Mr. Truong boiled water for the chickens to drink all day. Chickens raised with ginseng water have good resistance and rarely get sick. Therefore, Mr. Truong's family hardly needs to use antibiotics, thus saving on investment costs.
Moreover, the quality of chicken meat is delicious, favored by the market, the wholesale price at the barn is 90,000 VND/kg, 10,000 - 12,000 VND/kg higher than raising by conventional methods. Each year, his family maintains 2 batches of chickens.
According to Mr. Truong's calculation, every 1,000 chickens raised using herbal methods can be sold for a profit of 40-50 million VND after about 4 months of raising.
The model of combining ginseng cultivation and chicken raising with ginseng not only helps Mr. Truong's family in Lien Chung commune, Tan Yen district, Bac Giang province have high income but also opens up a new direction for breeders, thereby improving product quality, bringing high economic efficiency to people.
