With his youth and perseverance, Mr. Duong Tan Loi, 33 years old, residing in Self-managed People's Group No. 4, Phu My Hamlet, Nhuan Phu Tan Commune, Mo Cay Bac District (Ben Tre Province) has been involved in the production and trading of ornamental apricot trees (yellow apricot) as well as growing raw materials to sell to people as seedlings for over 10 years.
The profession of growing and trading ornamental apricot trees has brought in an income of more than 900 million VND/year for the family of Mr. Duong Tan Loi, a farmer in Phu My hamlet, Nhuan Phu Tan commune, Mo Cay Bac district (Ben Tre province).
On 4,000m2 of land, Mr. Tan Loi uses 1,000m2 to grow raw materials such as oranges, jackfruit, and durian to sell to people to produce seedlings.
On the remaining land area, he specializes in producing and trading bonsai according to customer preferences. On average, each year, he produces and supplies the market with about 40,000 small bonsai pots and 1,000 large bonsai trees.
In the past 2 years, Mr. Tan Loi has promoted online sales methods such as: livestreaming TikTok, Zalo, Facebook...
On average, he receives 10-20 orders for bonsai products of all kinds every day. According to Mr. Loi, he always selects and breeds new bonsai varieties to meet the needs of customers.
“At first, I had difficulty approaching and selling products online. I researched, learned and gained experience to keep up with the same method of selling through social networks.
Currently, I have been able to sell my family's raw material and bonsai products better than the traditional way of selling through the application of digital transformation technology," Mr. Tan Loi confided.
Mr. Duong Tan Loi, a farmer who grows ornamental apricot trees (yellow apricot trees) and sells ornamental apricot trees in Phu My hamlet, Nhuan Phu Tan commune, Mo Cay Bac district (Ben Tre province) is creating a canopy for an ornamental apricot tree.
Mr. Tan Loi invested more than 15 million VND to equip the trees with a net to cover them. In addition, he also invested more than 20 million VND to build a freshwater pond (more than 70m3 of water) to water the raw material trees and bonsai.
The automatic water system is connected to the reservoir to indirectly irrigate according to weather changes for bonsai pots grown on the ground and uses water pipes to directly irrigate bonsai pots grown in pots.
