In recent years, the selection of typical rural industrial products has been an annual activity organized by the Ministry of Industry and Trade . This is a meaningful activity, aiming to select rural industrial products with quality and usage value to honor, contributing to creating motivation to expand production, meeting the increasing demand of the market.

Continuing the achievements of "supporting" typical rural industrial products to position product brands in recent years, implementing Circular No. 26/2014/TT-BCT dated August 28, 2014 of the Ministry of Industry and Trade on organizing the selection of typical rural industrial products on the national industrial promotion plan in 2024, the Department of Industry and Trade of the locality, the Department of Industry and Trade of Hanoi city recently chaired and coordinated with the Departments of Industry and Trade of provinces and cities in the Northern region, relevant agencies and units to organize the selection of typical industrial products in the Northern region in 2024.

Through many rounds of evaluation, from provincial to ministerial level, from 218 typical rural industrial products of more than 200 rural industrial establishments in the Northern region registered to participate in the regional voting, the Jury selected 126 products, product sets as typical rural industrial products of the Northern region in 2024 to be recognized.

After being approved by the Review Council, the local Department of Industry and Trade - Ministry of Industry and Trade issued Decision No. 44/QD-CTDP dated May 13, 2024 of the Director of the local Department of Industry and Trade on recognizing 126 products as typical rural industrial products in the Northern region in 2024.

According to the local Department of Industry and Trade, the purpose of voting for typical rural industrial products is to select excellent and outstanding products among typical rural industrial products to vote for and honor.

"Thereby, creating motivation for enterprises and rural industrial establishments to improve their competitiveness, develop high-quality products with regional and national advantages, contributing to job creation for workers and ensuring social security in the locality" - said a representative of the local Department of Industry and Trade.

Recognizing and honoring the products honored this time, on May 17, 2024, the Regional Voting Council, the local Department of Industry and Trade organized the awarding of the Certificate of Typical Rural Industrial Products in the Northern Region in 2024 to 126 products.

These are outstanding products, representing key industrial production groups, with advantages of localities, regions and countries, with high usage value, good quality, beautiful appearance, strengths, potential for development, production expansion, meeting the needs and tastes of domestic and foreign customers.

According to the local Department of Industry and Trade, typical rural industrial products through the voting periods have enjoyed many incentives from the industrial promotion program for production development and market expansion. The honoring and awarding of Certificates of typical rural industrial products in the Northern region in 2024 is one of the activities to support businesses in promoting trade both domestically and internationally, helping businesses and rural industrial production establishments find partners, ensuring stable output for products.

Shaping brand value for local products

Through the voting rounds, the number of participating local products has increased, and the quality has also improved. Thanks to the voting programs, many businesses have become aware of focusing on improving the value of their products from design to production process and product quality.

For example, Dien Bien has 9 products participating in this vote. Of which, the province is also honored to have 4 products recognized as typical rural industrial products in the Northern region in 2024.

Mr. Vu Hong Son - Director of Dien Bien Department of Industry and Trade said that typical rural industrial products at the regional level in 2024 were selected and honored, with diverse and rich designs, demonstrating the creativity and quintessence of each locality and each region.

Typical rural industrial products that want to exist sustainably, develop strongly, and reach out to the world need the dynamism and continuous creativity of rural industrial establishments themselves" - Director of Dien Bien Department of Industry and Trade said.

Thanks to the focus on improving product quality, design, and applying modern technology in production, the coffee products of Hong Ky International Coffee Joint Stock Company in Dien Bien were honored to be selected as one of the four products of the province to receive certification.

In addition, the Director of the Department of Industry and Trade of Dien Bien emphasized that the highlight of the products is their high use value and potential for expanding production. This is also the driving force for rural industrial establishments to continue promoting the typical values ​​of the locality, aiming for the goal of serving the community and society.

In order to increase support to enhance the value of typical rural industrial products of localities, in addition to the annual program of voting for typical rural industrial products, the Ministry of Industry and Trade has also implemented many programs to help businesses promote trade and develop brands.

Accordingly, in the period of 2022-2025, the local Department of Industry and Trade will continue to implement support programs for enterprises and establishments with typical rural industrial products to participate in the annual National Trade Promotion Program; support brand building and development, improve design capacity, develop labels and packaging suitable for the target market, contributing to increasing brand value for typical rural industrial products.

In order for the above orientations to be effectively implemented, the local Department of Industry and Trade will strengthen the synchronous implementation of solutions, support rural industrial establishments with products certified as typical rural industrial products at the regional and national levels to develop production and promote trade; integrate mechanisms and policies to support the development of typical rural industrial products at the regional and national levels according to programs and projects: Industrial promotion, trade promotion, rural industrial development, and development of small and medium enterprises.

Promote support for the development of typical rural industrial products by prioritizing investment support in the application of advanced machinery and equipment in product production; introduce and promote products at domestic and international fairs and exhibitions; continue to support rural industrial establishments to develop more new products, support product packaging design, and improve product commercialization capabilities.

At the same time, well implement the advisory work, propose to perfect the policy mechanism on supporting the development of typical rural industrial products at the regional and national levels; research and develop support packages including specific support contents associated with the actual support needs of each facility in developing typical rural industrial products.

In recent years, the selection of outstanding rural industrial products has achieved many positive results. According to statistics, in the period 2012-2022, the whole country had 1,632 outstanding rural industrial products at the regional level; 512 products at the national level. In 2023 alone, 173 products and sets of outstanding rural industrial products at the national level were recognized and granted certificates.
