Trieu Nguyen was recognized as a Central Safe Zone commune located in Quang Tri.

Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Hoa Binh has just signed a decision to recognize Trieu Nguyen commune, Dakrong district, Quang Tri province as a central safe zone commune located in Quang Tri province during the resistance war against France and the US. Accordingly, Trieu Nguyen commune will be entitled to preferential policies according to current regulations.

Previously, based on Decision No. 897/QD-TTg dated May 27, 2016 of the Prime Minister promulgating criteria and procedures for recognizing communes as Safe Zones and Safe Zone areas, on August 5, 2024, the People's Committee of Quang Tri province submitted a document to the Prime Minister for consideration and recognition of Trieu Nguyen commune as a Safe Zone commune with 4/5 criteria achieved.

Based on the appraisal opinions of relevant ministries and branches, and based on documents, materials, images, relics and historical events of the administrative unit proposed for recognition as a Safe Zone commune, the Ministry of Home Affairs agreed with the People's Committee of Quang Tri province to assess that Trieu Nguyen commune in Dakrong district met 4/5 criteria, qualified for recognition as a Safe Zone commune and submitted a report to the Prime Minister to recognize Trieu Nguyen commune as a Central Safe Zone commune located in Quang Tri province during the resistance war against France and the US.

Trieu Nguyen commune has a natural area of ​​53.11 ^km2 , a population of 1,355 people, located in the Southeast of Dakrong district. With the terrain of a long valley, surrounded by rugged hills and mountains, a dense system of streams, Trieu Nguyen commune became a solid revolutionary base, the stationing and operating place of Regiment 6, Army Corps 2, and a vital traffic hub connecting the North with the plains of Quang Tri, Thua Thien Hue provinces and the southern provinces via the Ho Chi Minh trail.

This is also a safe transit point for delegations of cadres going to the North and South, where important political events took place, turning points in the stages of the resistance war against France and the US such as the establishment and launch of Binh - Tri - Thien sub-region; organizing the Quang Tri Provincial Party Congress...

The recognition of Trieu Nguyen commune as a Safe Zone commune is not only an honor for the entire Party Committee and local people, but also an objective assessment of history, a worthy tribute to the great contributions and merits of the Party Committee, government and local people during the two resistance wars against France and the US; at the same time, it is a motivation for the people of Trieu Nguyen commune to continue promoting the revolutionary heroism of the old resistance land; educating the younger generations to remember, learn, and continue to build the homeland and country to become more and more beautiful.

Previously, on February 6, 2023, the Prime Minister also signed a decision to recognize Ba Long commune, Dakrong district, Quang Tri province as a central safe zone commune located in Quang Tri during the resistance wars against France and the US.
