On the morning of November 15, the Ministry of National Defense informed about activities to celebrate the 80th anniversary of the founding of the Vietnam People's Army and the 35th anniversary of National Defense Day.
Notably, the 2nd Vietnam International Defense Exhibition 2024 will take place from December 19-22 at Gia Lam Airport, Hanoi.
Major General Le Ngoc Than, Chief of Politics of the General Department of Defense Industry, said that as of November, 140 organizations from 27 countries had registered to participate with the Exhibition Organizing Committee, with an area of over 5,000 square meters. Among them are: the US, China, Russia, India, Israel, France, the UK, Spain... with large and modern defense industries registered to participate in the exhibition.
Major General Le Ngoc Than said that the opening ceremony will take place on the morning of December 19 with the participation of Party and State leaders and international guests. In addition to the general activities, a long period of time will be set aside for people to visit the exhibition during the 4 days. The opening time is from 1:30 p.m. on December 21 to the end of December 22. Admission is free and there will be no age limit. "If the previous exhibition limited children from entering, this year there will be no age limit."
In 2022, Vietnam will organize an international defense exhibition for the first time, so the scale will be limited and we don't have much experience. "We are learning as we go," Major General Le Ngoc Than shared.
Under the direction of the Central Military Commission and the Ministry of National Defense, the second exhibition will be much larger in scale, with more activities and more international delegations. In particular, the number of weapons and equipment from other countries and Vietnam participating in the exhibition will be greater, with many new products manufactured from 2022 to present also being displayed.
Major General Le Ngoc Than emphasized the goal of seeking cooperation opportunities between partners through the exhibition; Vietnam has a self-reliant, autonomous, and self-reliant defense industry but still needs to cooperate with countries with defense industries to learn.
At the exhibition promotion conference in April, the exhibition organizers said that the exhibition will display and introduce combat vehicles, technological solutions, weapons, and equipment for the navy, army, air defense - air force, cyber warfare, and technical logistics. During the opening ceremony, the air force will perform a welcome flyover, and special forces will demonstrate their skills and martial arts.
For air defense - air force, the exhibition is expected to display fighter aircraft, helicopters, trainers, drones; air-to-air missiles, air defense, man-portable air defense; artillery systems, air defense missiles.
For the navy, the exhibition will introduce submarines, warships, auxiliary ships, unmanned ships; reconnaissance equipment, underwater observation, sonar; torpedoes; mines; surface-to-sea missiles, sea-to-sea missiles.
For the army, the exhibition will display infantry weapons, firepower weapons; infantry, artillery, anti-tank ammunition; observation and day and night aiming equipment; ground artillery, self-propelled artillery; ground-to-ground missiles, anti-tank missiles; tanks, armored vehicles, troop carriers, military transport vehicles.
